Michael Savage - A Savage Nation

Recommended Posts

I recently caught a broadcast from a US station that was hosted by a man called Michael Savage. After listening to him I then googled his name and was taken to his web-site. Reading through his pages I became even more interested in this man. He speaks to the extreme right and is outrageous in his comments on many topics. I do not agree with much of what he has to say but I do feel the need to learn more about him. I am wondering if anyone knows where I might find information about him.

I don't know much about him but here's his Wikipedia page.

First of all I would think that anyone who cares about human rights would have stopped using Google after they caved into China's demands that they censor search contents. This is a government that if their own people peacefully protest they either get shot or run over by tanks.

Chian is not going to change the way they treat their own people as long as people support them by purchasing products made in China, or by countries like Canada and the U.S. continuing to trade with them. To continue doing either is to condone the abuse!

I believe that Google made the right choice. After all people are not stupid and if they want information they will get, Google just makes it that much easier. By restricting some of the searches yet remaining viable in China they left the door open to easing such restrictions in the future. Yes China has much to do in terms of democratic reform. The documentary China Rises has touched on many of the inequalities and corruption that exists at all levels of the system. However who would have believed two decades ago that Shanghai would now be a bastion of capitalism. Reform will come when the people of China are ready to demand it, it is their decision to make not ours. Denying them even a restricted use of Google is just another form of repression. B)

On the other hand, Google did do the right thing in telling the Bush administration to **** themselves when they demanded Google hand over its records of individual's IP addresses and the search terms they used -- in order to "make sure people weren't downloading porn."

Completely agreed there...

So they will stand up to the US government but cave in completely to the Chinese and help them to not only block information but to find those posting information and arrest them. Geeze, I didn't realize Google was run by Canadian liberals.

I don't know much about him, nor do I hear much about him. I never hear anything about him from rightwing sites, so I wouldn't get my hopes up too much.

I know he wrote a book called Liberalism is a Mental Disorder. I'm curious what he wrote because I too, sometimes think liberalism is a mental disorder. But I've never ordered the book and I haven't seen it in any stores in town. I could request the library order the book but they would refuse. I live in a province governed by the NDP and I believe that they control what literature is allowed in the public libraries. The left is noted for doing everything they can to control the information the masses see or hear (eg, the 5 year Fox News Channel ban).

I once requested the library order an Ann Coulter book. They sent me a letter saying they didn't order the book because it got "poor reviews". But this book was on the NY Times' Bestseller List for 16 weeks and Coulter is one of the best-selling political authors in the last decade! <_<

Later I asked them to order the controversial Swift Boat Veterans For Truth's Unfit For Command. I was curious as to what Kerry had done to make 264 of 270 of his mates dislike him so intensely. The lady at the library told me that it was on order but I would be #12 on the waiting list. She said that they might have to order another one since the waiting list was getting high. Later I got a letter saying the book wasn't ordered because it got "poor reviews". :(

I've given up on my public library. Now I just keep my head down most of the time when I am in the library.....[to avoid looking at the tons of Bill Clinton books that seem to be in every aisle]. :)

If Google wants to do business in China they will have to abide by that countries laws/ways. No two ways about it. Regardless of their track record with suppressing information.

It is not Google's job to tell China how they want to run things. If Google wants to play in China, they have to play by their rules.

And is Mike Savage the same guy who does Savage Love??

Savage used to have a show on MSNBC in the States called "The Savage Nation." It got canceled and he got fired after he said something about homosexuals having no morals or something like that.

That's unfair--if Savage said that about homosexuals. I wouldn't be surprised if it is true because I never hear anything about him on the right side of the news.

Cracking down on child porn is good. I don't know much about the US and their constitutional rights, but I'm sure they have something similar to ours:

8. Everyone has the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure.

Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms

Where do you draw the line? I would view obtaining ALL IPs and search terms definitely unreasonable seizure. If they have evidence against people already, and obtain a warrent through a judge for specific evidence, then sure.

Would you be ok if the government decided to do a survey of the contents of everyone's houses just to make sure no one is doing anything illegal? Of course not. But if there is grounds of suspicion then by all means, giv'er.

The government needs to be kept in line, we have rights for a reason, and I personally support those that protect their fundamental rights and values. Only the guilty need to fear my ass, political oppression is something I would fear as someone who does not use the internet for illict purposes.

So they claim. Of course, the vast majority of it is outside of their jursidiction anyway, and I don't value surrendering all rights to privacy and reasonable expectation of keeping Big Brother out of my Google searches in exchange for what they SAY is their reason for collecting the information.

Besides, what they say and what they do are two different things in most situations anyway.

Unless you believe there really are hidden WMDs in Iraq, that Saddam had the bomb, and that George W. Bush would never authorize wiretaps without a FISA court warrant. In which case, I'm afraid I'm all out of brains to lend you. :P

his book was on the NY Times' Bestseller List for 16 weeks and Coulter is one of the best-selling political authors in the last decade

That's because they buy their own books and resell them to the bookstores. Regnery Press is particularly notorious for those. WalMart often receives truckloads of "new" books from Regnery which already have Walmart stickers on them -- because Regnery went in, bought the books, stuck them in inventory, and then resold them to Walmart. So the same book counts as being "sold" 20 or 30 times.

As for Michael "Savage," he's not one to talk about immoral homosexuals. It's widely assumed that he had a homosexual relationship with his very close friend, gay beat poet Alan Ginsburg. He's rather good at playing his schtick, though, and proves that in American politics, you don't need a point of view so much as you need to tell people what they want to hear and you can be successful. "Savage" caters to the reactionary nuts who think the feminists are out to castrate them and that gays are "interested" in them.

His thesis revolved around a Pat Buchananesque plan to close the U.S. border to everything foreign.

I've heard him when I've been in the U.S. he coined the phrase 'red diaper doper babies' to describe the left. I found him a bit over the top. I like Rush Limbaugh, he's pretty good and not so reactionary.

As for the homosexual business, 'widely assumed' is not proof.

First: Savage isn't his name. It's actually Weiner.

And here's a fascinating article on the guy. Sounds like a very sad, disturbed individual (but then, I've always thought the whole "angry pundit" thing is just right-wingers projecting their issues across the airwaves).

Hi there all!

Nice board you's got here.

I just had to reply to this thread. First, I do not agree with 100% of what savage says. But I have to say, most is right on point! Put is this way: You hear/read/watch all the political talk, DOUBLE TALK all the time. Savage puts it in perspective. You have to listen to his show for a bit and you WILL be hooked (Unless you’re Liberal).

I have been listening to him uninterrupted for about 6 years now (His show has never been canceled, maybe moved around a bit), have read all his books and like I said he's off on a couple of things, but man, he really makes you think. He has 6 million listeners, top rated talk radio show host. But yet, you don’t hear much about him in the main stream media. If none at all. I wonder why that is??????? Liberal. You have to think global when you listen, not be closed minded. You must have some intelligent, or you may think he's a "kook".

Check him out, you won’t be disappointed.

X

By the way:

“He's a liar and a kook. He belongs on a wall of fame with Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Bill O'Rielly, and Ann Coulter. All from the same cloth”

Who ever said this: you obviously do not know what you’re talking about. Too funny!!!

Well, if they do, it will just hasten their long-time collapse from power (and possible liquidation as a political party).

As for the homosexual business, 'widely assumed' is not proof.

Well, for him to get on air and turn purple over homosexual perverts, while he was friends with Alan Ginsberg, used to go skinnydipping with him, and wrote fondly in his diary of the "exquisite hand tricks" Ginsberg did to him, is a bit over the top.

Rush Limbaugh, he's pretty good and not so reactionary

He's just another guy who tells big lies in order to promote big-government socialism under a "conservative" wrapper. The guy screamed for massive penalties against drug users, but abused drugs himself. He demanded that marriage be "protected," but has been divorced four times. He's just another useful idiot in the idiocracy.

I'm libertarian and find his show to be useless dreck, like MOST "conservative" talk shows these days.

Boring, intellectually vacant mental wanking is what most talk radio is today.

"We're right, the opponent is the antichrist who wants to eat your babies."

Savage just adds profanity into it and says what he thinks a bit more bluntly. He doesn't beat around the bush (pardon the pun) -- he's the Fred Phelps to Rush Limbaugh's Jerry Falwell.

Oh, and lest you mention Air America, they're all a bunch of idiots as well. I don't get very impressed with Demopublican arguments which declare that they're great because the other guys are idiots too.

You can listen to Savage here... http://kprcradio.com/main.html every afternoon from 5:00-8:00 pm CST via Internet streaming... make sure that you've got your pop up blocker "off."

Hush Bimbaugh and Shameless "buy my book, buy my friend's book, buy everybody's book" Vanity... wish they could be half as entertaining as Michael Savage. And when it comes to speaking the truth about raghead islamo-fascist and exposing the brainwashed Bushbots... Savage can't be beat!
