(I have never seen or heard Trudeau Jnr, You have tree good fellows but i trust more Trudeau father than the other two for his justice and moral. His son is the devil compared to him, exactly the opposite of his father. Edited February 10, 2024 by Gaétan Quote
August1991 Posted February 10, 2024 Author Report Posted February 10, 2024 I reckon that a good leader must use language well - a turn of phrase. In Canada, to be a good leader, this is more difficult. Quote
OftenWrong Posted February 10, 2024 Report Posted February 10, 2024 None of them spoke particularly well in my opinion. Trudeau snr may have been the best of the three you listed, and he presented himself as an intellectual. He set the bar for Canadian liberal values especially for his time. Levesque, I could not understand him. His English was pretty bad and besides, he could never represent all of Canada, was just a foil for Quebecer seperatism. Mulroney, I did not trust him. When he spoke, his mouth was too small. Quote
August1991 Posted February 10, 2024 Author Report Posted February 10, 2024 Putin speaks Russian well; Putin speaks Russian like an educated person Trudeau spoke French like an older but educated person. Quote

In the opening post I assumed you were talking about style and verbal clarity. I agreed with much that Pierre Trudeau said, especially the part about the state not having any business in the bedrooms of Canadians. His son needs to take a page from that. Mr. Levesque, I don't know him. I defer to your opinion... if you say so. Mr. Mulroney spoke english very well, but I neither enjoyed what he said, nor how he said it! Quote

-TSS- Posted February 10, 2024 Report Posted February 10, 2024 This kind of makes me think how we in Finland had this party-princess called Sanna Marin as our Prime Minister and she caught even international attention and many people here in Finland were amazed what a super PM we had. Then we had elections and her party lost and boring adults took charge again and nobody now knows outside of Finland who the Finnish PM is. It is very much the same with you in Canada. Justin Trudeau is well known across the world. His predecessors weren't and most likely his successors won't be either. Quote

You Finns -like Norwegians- have a different view of life. Quote
August1991 Posted February 12, 2024 Author Report Posted February 12, 2024 (edited) Listening to this Carlson/Putin interview, I listened to their language. I was reminded of the Nixon/Frost interview. Putin speaks better Russian than Nixon spoke English. ==== In Canada, we have the delight of two languages. Edited February 12, 2024 by August1991 Quote
