Some of you on this board are really arrogant. For God's sakes, The NDP only got half a million votes last election and they have the nerve to say 'Canadians dont share Stephen Harpers vision of Canada' when the Conservatives got 4 million votes (8 times more then Jack)

I hate Layton as much as I hate Martin, anyone with me?

Geez. Did Jack Layton run over your dog or something?

I think that has something to do with the fact that way more Canadians voted for parties other than the Tories than for.

Well in the last election the conservatives got about 30% of the popular vote and the NDP got around 15%. So if the Conservatives got 4 million votes then the NDP got around 2 million. It was the Greens who got half a million.

Jack Layton's point that the Conservatives do not represent the values of Canadians may work if he is inlisting Liberal, Green and the Bloc's (on non-nationa/federal/etc type issues) numbers. Then it paints a picture where 70% of Canadians voted for parties that are generally Leftwing.

In terms of political debate the argument is weak. Obviously there is support for the Conservatives and that support appears to be growing. When it is broken down in to individual regions that support obviously skyrockets in the West.

I don't know about Layton, but Conservatives on this site are definitely haters.

Definitely no hate here. I share his concern on many fronts, from the environment, to homelessness etc.

I strongly disagree with him how you tackle these complex things.

He likes the large centralized programs.

I like enabling and facilitating localized solutions.

I think the Jack is good for parliament, he offers a valuable alternative and perspective that needs representation. That being said, I think in power he would do much more harm than good.

This vilification of you opponent doesn’t interest me. Most people get into public life for good reasons on all sides.

That being said, I do believe the Liberals have developed a culture of entitlement that has negative impacts on how the govern and how they run campaigns.

I'm not a Liberal (I vote NDP too), but I don't get the "culture of entitlement" thing. Back when they had no real opposition, I was surprised how Chretien seemed to campaign against Stockwell Day as if he were a real alternative. And I understand how Martin's "10-year plans" appear presumptuous, but I don't think that's any different than Harper saying he'd lower the GST to 5% in five years. It's just putting forward a plan that voters can take or leave.

You must not have spent much time here recently. If I were a Liberal, my feelings would have been very hurt by now.

You must not be a Canadian taxpayer. My bank account paid for Quebec separatism and my loonies are VERY hurt.
