You also used points on a credit card. So, to me this should be factored into your expenses, even if it didn't come out of pocket. 

Had you used cash, your trip would have cost you a lot more.

Telling people to collect points to travel, is horrible advice. I go to another financial advisor, when the advice is "get another credit card and pay the minimum". 

Save up, understand how agencies, airlines and the travel industry book tickets, and reap the benefits and savings.

You'll save thousands.

Keeping borders closed and lockdowns was disastrous.

Fear mongering, and panic news reporting made it worse.

I think being better prepared helps, but we should not take a page from China on how to handle a pandemic.

Thats population control under guise of their safety.

Countries that thrived, didn't panic their population and took sensible precautions, while avoiding to fully take draconian measures.

In Canada we had 15k deaths in 2020, 14k deaths in 2021, and 19k deaths in 2022, and the amount of media coverage varied inversely with the number of covid deaths. 

In 2020 and '21 all they talked about on the news was covid and covid deaths, and in 2022 they almost never mentioned covid. It went from absolutely dominating the news cycle 24/7 to not even being an afterthought, but deaths were up by 30%. 

Covid fear porn 1) got rid of Trump and 2) sold the vax to 85% of Canadians, then it was a detriment to our leftist gov'ts because they needed to focus on the economy in order to get re-elected.

Joe declared the pandemic was over, then claimed that the growing economy was only due to his own magnificence, and now the Demmies need covid fear porn again because they're tanking in the upcoming election. The Libs need it too, they're wallowing in failure. Big Pharma always needs their cash cow. The MSM will be there for them. Book it.
