Biden admin torched by Rep. Gary Palmer over potential gas stove ban: 'Desire to control American's lives'

Rep. Gary Palmer doubled down on his criticism of the Biden administration after the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) said it was considering a potential ban on gas stoves.

The idea was sent back to the drawing board following swift criticism from lawmakers and consumers.

"As I said yesterday, unelected bureaucrats should not have the type of power to even consider such an action. It is time to rein in the Biden administration and their continual desire to control American's lives and decisions," the Republican tweeted Tuesday.

We''re in the middle of winter. It's cold. And the Nazi regime in Washington would BAN the source of heat for the POOREST of Americans. (And this after spending THOUSANDS on new IRS agents to audit the working poor.)

The message from this unelected racist, to the poor:

EVs do NOT cost more to run, nor do Electric Ovens. You just sop up the propaganda eh?

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/cars/2021/10/23/costs-charge-ev-fuel-car-gas-study/6154204001/

Costs to drive an EV compared with a gasoline car are detailed in a report Anderson Economic released Thursday called "Comparison: Real World Cost of Fueling EVs and ICE Vehicles."

The study has four major findings:

  • There are four additional costs to powering EVs beyond electricity: cost of a home charger, commercial charging, the EV tax and "deadhead" miles.
  • For now, EVs cost more to power than gasoline costs to fuel an internal combustion car that gets reasonable gas mileage.
  • Charging costs vary more widely than gasoline prices.
  • There are significant time costs to finding reliable public chargers – even then a charger could take 30 minutes to go from 20% to an 80% charge.

Earth to ignoramus. Replacing an electric car BATTERY can run up to $60K.

Wanna try to market this to the minimum wage crowd?

Outlawing gas ovens means a poor household has to get rid of a source of cheap heat and spend $1322 for an electric oven, which will STILL be powered by fossil fuel: like coal, natural gas and oil.

Natural Gas is a CLEAN fuel. It burns CLEAN.

Take away a poor family's gas stove (AND THE GAS HEATER IN THEIR HOMES, BY THE WAY) and their electric bill during the winter TRIPLES (in order to keep them from freezing to death)

Is it my imagination or do you liberals just NEVER actually think about the lies oozing from your pie holes?

You can get a Home Charger off Amazon for like $400. The cost is getting the NEMA 40 line within reach of your car. Depends on the Electrician you use and the situation in your garage, but that's an unfront cost and not the cost to actually run the car.

If you charge at night, which most EV users do, you pay something around 10-15 cent per kwH. A litre of gasoline is equal to about 9 kwh. Seems somewhat even until you calculate that comparable mileage on an EV usually require less than 100 kwh. So the the price of 10 litres of gas? What ICE car can fill up on 10 litres of gas?

If you have to depend on Public chargers, EVs aren't for you yet. But if you have a Garage where you can charge at home, they're amazing. Not the point of this thread however.

Outlawing Lead Paint victimizes the poor Imagine too. The studies cited found they don't particularly burn that clean.

Apparently the Federal government is incentivizing poor people to transition to electric ovens which are safer and more efficient.

And no one is pledging to ban Gas Furnances . . . yet.

Excuse me? The whole point of banning gas stoves is based on the climate change lie. And somehow you think gas furnaces and OIL furnaces will be spared?  How is the weather on your planet? How is it different from Earth?

What does lead paint have to do with a discussion about natural gas? Can't you manage to stick to the subject in discussion? What's next? Throw in DDT banning?

A gasoline powered car can make it across the United States a lot faster and cheaper than an electric car, mostly because gasoline is pumped in, whereas electricity has to be CHARGED on that $60,000 battery, sometimes for hours, just to make the same distance.

And it's ALL based on the moe RONIC LIE about human caused climate change.

And NOBODY has the balls to challenge CHINA who has the most cars per mile, the most polluted skies and the HIGHEST consumption of coal for energy. Think those people are going to bend off and accept electric vehicles if the world demands it?

It's the same rhetoric. If you ban a cheap but unsafe product, you're attacking the poor.

Nobody is saying the climate doesn't change. It changed LONG before humans inhabited the earth. Only a total retard thinks humans can influence the climate one way or another. And there is ZERO evidence that humans can warm the planet, (which HASN'T warmed when Algore claimed it would.)

They cost more to buy. Their repair costs are higher. (Find someone with an education to read the reliable and diverse links I posted here and then explain them to you.)

Again if you disagree with the whole premise of climate change then every attempt to do something for the environment is an attack. It's a convenient position to take.

The climate change lie has NOTHING to do with the environment. The United States passed environmental laws which cleaned our air, our water, our rivers, etc. America has the cleanest energy on the planet. The climate change lie came when fundraising dried up for the global warming myth (since the planet did not warm and melt the poles when Algore said it would) Humans cannot warm a small town in winter. Human knowledge cannot even predict the WEATHER with any accuracy ten days out much less influence GLOBAL CLIMATE.

And as far as China somehow becoming a vanguard of anti climate change EV technology...

https://www.instituteforenergyresearch.org/international-issues/chinas-economy-is-based-on-fossil-fuels/

China’s economy is based on fossil fuels (hydrocarbons), which generate 86 percent of its primary energy consumption. China’s investments in these sources continue to grow across the board, despite media characterizations of them as being committed to a “green” energy future. China added 11.4 gigawatts of new coal-fired capacity in the first six months of 2020—plants that can continue operating efficiently for 40 to 60 years. China is allowing coal power plants to be built until around 2030 when China will be richer and replacement technologies will have advanced and their costs will be lower. Chinese state-owned utilities are building new coal-fired power plants, with their fleets set to expand about 10 percent by 2025.

China plans to build 250 gigawatts of coal-fired generating capacity to add to its current coal-fired fleet of over 1,000 gigawatts—more coal-fired capacity than the entire U.S. generating fleet. Last year, China opened the $30 billion Haoji Railway line, a 2,000-kilometer (1,243-mile) conduit to haul 200 million tons of coal a year directly from central coal mining basins to regions in the southeast. Additionally, China is expanding output from its coal mines to supply (at an estimated cost of $90 billion) 35 coal-to-chemicals projectsa technology more carbon-intensive than conventional petrochemical production.

Again you'd be on the wrong side of science with this assessment. 150 years of belching Greenhouse gases into the environment has certainly changed the environment for the worse.

If you pay attention to the car industry. All cars are more expensive. Most automakers are getting out of the business of cheap base model cars. If you can't afford 40k+ for a new car, perhaps you should look at buying used.

It does have the largest population in the world. I would suggest, per capita, they actually do quite well for emissions.

AND again, why let China lead the way on this? Since when is China the model of how to run an economy?

It’s absolutely amazing how shltty you are at reading. You are just incredibly thick skulled. You have a remarkable ability to read one single sentence in an article and reach absurd, ridiculous conclusions.

“A December 2022 study in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health found that indoor gas stove usage is associated with an increased risk of current asthma among children. The study found that almost 13% of current childhood asthma in the US is attributable to gas stove use.”

So the potential or theoretical ban has nothing to do with climate change and everything to do with consumer safety.  There was only one study and I presume they would need to conduct a lot more research to determine whether gas stoves are indeed a health hazard to children.

Biden’s Gas Stove Ban Is Based on Climate Change, Not Health

Your asinine "asthma" fairy tale comes from Bloomberg, which is about as reliable a source as THE VIEW.

Gas stoves causing asthma? In WHAT parallel universe? Do you even KNOW what asthma is, what causes it?

https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/asthma/causes

What causes asthma?

Asthma often starts during childhood when your immune system is still developing. Multiple factors may work together to cause it, such as:

  • Things in the environment (called allergens) that affected you as a baby or young child, which may include cigarette smoke or certain germs
  • Viral infections that affect breathing
  • Family history, such as a parent who has asthma (especially your mother)

These can affect how your lung develops or how your body fights germs. Other things that may raise the risk of developing asthma include the following.

  • Allergies: Asthma is usually a type of allergic reaction. People who have asthma often have other types of allergies, such as food or pollen.
  • Obesity: This condition raises your chances of developing asthma or making your asthma symptoms worse.
  • Race or ethnicity: African Americans and Puerto Ricans are at higher risk of asthma than people of other races or ethnicities are. African American and Hispanic children are more likely than non-Hispanic white Americans to die from asthma-related causes.
  • Sex: More boys than girls have asthma as children, while asthma is more common among women in teens and adults.
  • Occupational hazards: Breathing in chemicals or industrial dusts in the workplace can raise your risk of developing asthma.

An unelected racist pedophile wants to ban gas stoves because of climate change and a hack sources tries to blame gas stoves for asthma, in order to support this unelected racist pedophile.

And yet NOBODY is talking about banning TOBACCO, which almost leads the way on all respiratory illnesses. You goose steppers want MARIJUANA legalized so even MORE lungs can be damaged by smoke.

https://nida.nih.gov/publications/research-reports/marijuana/what-are-marijuanas-effects-lung-health

Smoking marijuana clearly damages the human lung. Research shows that smoking marijuana causes chronic bronchitis and marijuana smoke has been shown to injure the cell linings of the large airways, which could explain why smoking marijuana leads to symptoms such as chronic cough, phlegm production, wheeze and acute bronchitis.4,9

Smoking marijuana has also been linked to cases of air pockets in between both lungs and between the lungs and the chest wall, as well as large air bubbles in the lungs among young to middle-aged adults, mostly heavy smokers of marijuana.

However, it's not possible to establish whether these occur more frequently among marijuana smokers than the general population.4

Smoking marijuana can harm more than just the lungs and respiratory system—it can also affect the immune system and the body's ability to fight disease, especially for those whose immune systems are already weakened from immunosuppressive drugs or diseases, such as HIV infection.4,9

Smoking marijuana hurts the lungs' first line of defense against infection by killing cells that help remove dust and germs as well as causing more mucus to be formed. In addition, it also suppresses the immune system. These effects could lead to an increased risk of lower respiratory tract infections among marijuana smokers, although there is no clear evidence of such actual infections being more common among marijuana smokers.4,9 However, frequent marijuana-only smokers have more healthcare visits for respiratory conditions compared to nonsmokers.10

Studies have shown that smoking marijuana may increase the risk of opportunistic infections among those who are HIV positive, although it does not seem to affect the development of AIDS or lower white cell counts.4,9

Another potential threat to those with weakened immune systems is Aspergillus, a mold that can cause lung disorders. It can grow on marijuana, which if then smoked exposes the lungs to this fungus.4 However, it rarely causes problems in people with healthy immune systems.

And yet you uneducated hacks want to blame gas stoves (which have been around since 1821) for asthma?

And you wonder why everyone says you're so stupid.

No, you half-wit, I’m just telling you the facts.  There was a study linking gas stoves to asthma. The existence of the study is known as a “fact.” Its conclusion is not a fact.

There’s a study, that’s all it is. Since the government under Biden is being run by responsible people and not imbeciles like you, they are going to study whether this threat is in fact real. It is too early to conclude whether gas stoves cause asthma or not.

It is too early to conclude whether gas stoves are definitely a danger or not.  And, while gas stoves do contribute to climate change, they release mostly methane, not CO2, and not considered one of the larger factors, so they aren’t on the table.

There’s a study, that’s all it is. Since the government under Biden is being run by responsible people and not imbeciles like you, they are going to study whether this threat is in fact real. It is too early to conclude whether gas stoves cause asthma or not.

There is ONE source making the claim. And that source is a left wing hack source with ZERO credibility.

I provided a source proving Unelected Joe is doing this because of the climate change myth.

The government under Biden is being run by the DUMBEST ass holes in the history of America.

You linked to an editorial. I hope you never get promoted from substitute teacher to full time teacher, because you can’t tell a fact from an opinion.

When you manage to get past the second grade in a reliable public school, you'll have the credibility to opine on the professionalism of ANY teacher.

(I was offered a full time teaching job in several schools in my system. I turned it down because I have another job and frankly there isn't time. I also prefer the freedom of substitute teaching, which allows me to see a lot of diverse schools as well as getting experience with different grades. All these places that might have educated you if you hadn't been unfortunate to be born in an inferior blue state.)

ALL articles are opinions. ALL left wing articles are opinions. And I haven't seen ANY documentation from your goose stepping side of the aisle.

There are more articles that prove the link of this communist action to militant envirofascism. (Gee. An EDUCATED poster might have gotten off his/her fat ass and done the research.)

The agency is reviewing gas stoves and range tops, opening a comment period for now, a member of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission told Bloomberg News in a recent interview. Attention on these appliances has increased in the wake of new studies of respiratory and certain cancer risks linked to their use, as well as research on their contribution to global warming from the greenhouse gases that the combustion of natural gas NG00, -3.73% and other fossil fuels releases into the atmosphere. An earlier study, from Stanford University, suggested that emissions from gas stoves in U.S. homes have the same climate-warming impact as that of half a million gasoline-powered cars. That includes the shorter-lasting but more-potent methane, in addition to carbon dioxide. Fossil-fuel combustion for energy accounts for about 74% of total Earth-warming U.S. greenhouse-gas emissions, the Energy Information Agency says.

N.Y. Gov. Hochul proposes ban on new gas hookups, to fight climate change

If the state Legislature passes Hochul's plan, the sale of all fossil fuel-burning home appliances would be phased out by the end of the decade.

Gas stoves are a threat to health and have larger climate impact than previously known, study shows

Oh, and HERE is an OPINION.

Gas stoves harm our health and the climate - should they be banned?

Gee. The Nazis ALL are getting on the anti gas stove climate change bandwagon. And left wing banana republic Democrats are looking for more and more ways to control people by taking away a clean form of fossil fuel energy.
