Is the Republican party becoming Trumps' party?

This would not be the first such development in the history and harassment and ostracism of the Republicans who chose to stand up for Constitutional principles is a clear indicator that something is brewing. What if one of the two mainstream parties in America will shift toward authoritarianism, personality cult and neglect of democratic values and principles? What would be the consequences for the US and the rest of the world?

The Republican Party is becoming a populist party.  Democrats have become the party of the rich and elite.

There are very well known historical precedents when a populist leader was telling "three letter word" to the millions strong crowd of supporters oblivious to democratic principles, the truth and the reality. It may not be over and it may not end very well, Heaven forbid. And I don't know the answer.

It is the party of Trump, no question about it. I'm not sure what these people are expecting. Are they just so cynical they will back any lie that might keep them in office? The grifters are in control now.

The dynamics is interesting here. It's not poor devastated country after war. There's plenty of information and clear unequivocal facts. So there isn't really any obvious explanations and excuses for deliberate mental blindness. There will be no "we did not know" and we weren't told.
