The Canadian government does indeed have a spending problem. The Canadian government does not want to get Canada and Canadians out of debt. Canada can create it's own currency but instead gives that power over to the private international bankers like the Rothchilds and Rockerfellers. Our government appears to be in bed with those bankers to help make them richer while keeping Canadians poorer and forever staying in debt....

Sorry, you're wrong. Canada the country is not in debt. As to the debt of Canadian governments, that is like the mortgage debt of a young family that just bought a house. Indeed, a young family that will always remain young.

As I say, government debt is largely irrelevant; it is government spending (what government buys on our behalf) that matters.

IME, people like you taxme have a large problem understanding the difference between an individual and a government. I suggest that you learn about the fallacy of composition.

According to my source, the Fraser Institute, your dear leader Trudeau has increased the per-person debt more than any other prime minister of Canada. Since this prime mistake of ours became the PM of ours back in 2015, and up to the next federal election, this buffoon will have increased the per-person debt by 5.6% to $32,589.00.

More federal government spending means more taxes must be increased in order to pay the interest on the debt rather than on services or tax relief. You are right though? It is not the federal government that is in debt, it is we the people that are the ones in debt and who will pay plenty of taxes for that debt for the total misuse and handling of our tax dollars by this spend crazy prime mistake of yours. Government debt is a problem and it is getting bigger every day thanks to this prime mistake of yours. I suggest to you that you try and get with the program that federal government debt "IS" the real problem. If you do not believe me then go to my source mentioned above and get the real and true side of the story. No fake news being promoted there. :)

Please put that in your pipe and smoke it: Lowest Debt-to-GDP ration among the G-7 and lowest unemployment rate in 40 years.

But Canada, the country, the rocks/trees/various people who live here do NOT have a debt problem.

On balance, we're rich.

....

This OECD data is based on "central" government "debt-to-gdp" ratios. (Canada is a federal state. But then, Quebec has a Caisse..... And Hydro.)

But as I say, the deductions for the Caisse or the CPPIB or the Teacher's are largely irrelevant. It is how governments spend/buy that matters.

It is indeed based on "central gov't." But then, so are other countries, like in the U.S., on 50 indebted states, some, like Michigan, near bankruptcy. Other 5 G7 countries are the same. And, seems to me, la Caisse de Dépôt and the Ontario Teachers' pension plan are assets to their provinces, not liabilities. And, what about Québec Hydro? Add that to assets or substract it from the GDP, provincial or federal, your choice or both. Your choice.

That's kind of the problem. It is perpetual debt and one that seems to only grow in size.  That's not a concern?

Then my own spending should be irrelevant. But I know that is just stupid as the cost of living is continually going up. I need to make more money than I spend.

If the government wants to raise taxes because they need to pay for things, this is where I have a problem with your notion of the national debt being irrelevant. The government debt is being passed on to us every step of the way.

By rights the Canadian government can print it's own money with little or no interest to we the people. But our puppet on a string bought off politicians prefer to allow private international bankers to do that for them, of course, with interest. A win-win for the banksters and a lose-lose for we the people. The banksters make billions in interest while we the people pay the debt and for their wonderful service that our dear leaders have put us all into. Canada will never get out of debt if this is allowed to carry on. Wakey-wakey time. :D

Taxme is absolutely right this time.

We'll never be allowed to get out of debt because then the banksters wouldn't make any money on us.

Sorry, I don't smoke. :D More lying talk coming from another leftist liberal useless outfit that pushes lies and bull chit about how Canada is doing is great. The Fraser Institute seems to differ with what that other outfit has to say. Trudeau spends tax dollars by the billions every year on so many useless socialist and communist programs and agendas that keep putting Canada and Canadians deeper in debt. The Fraser Institute already pointed out and explained to people like you all about Trudeau and his wasteful taxpayers tax dollars spending but yet you still want to deny what they have said is true. From what you are trying to promote here is just more BS and lies coming from just another leftist liberal outfit. Lying is cheap and easy talk for leftist liberals. They are the experts at lying and spreading fake news.

Rocks and trees don't give a dam about anything. But some people and groups do. The Fraser Institute and The Taxpayers Federation and The Taxpayers Federation do, and so do I. When a country is in hundreds of billions of dollars in debt, that country nor it's people are rich, and they are being taxed to death by the creation of more taxes. Now your prime mistake of Canada wants create a new tax and put it on plastic. Another few more billions for the Trudeau government to blow on so many of his communist programs and agendas, and more tax dollars out of we the peoples wallets. When will people ever get it? If one is of the leftist liberal mind set, they never will get it because they appear to lack any kind of common sense and logic. They just live on emotion and foolish talk.

If I were rich, I would not be sitting here talking to you. :)

Rocks, trees? But also our thoughts.

I have been known to miss a point or two. :)
