Dougie93 Posted January 25, 2019 Report Posted January 25, 2019 The President is literally immune from prosecution while in office, other than for High Crimes and Misdemeanors, but since that is a poltical rather than criminal statute, the Senate can make up whatever punishment they want. It's gonna be the same lever as it was with Clinton, obstruction, resulting in the same punishment, censure, and then like Clinton, Trump will get a bounce from it as the base rallies around him, Trump walking right back into the Oval Office in the wake of the Impeachment attempt. I think you are missing the point. Today they would not convict trump because today they don’t know all the evidence mueller has uncovered. When Muellers report come out along with documented, verified evidence they will quickly abandon ship. Quote

When the Mueller report comes out, you are going to be quite disappointed, and then you'll probably accuse Mueller of covering up for Trump because he didn't find a smoking gun. Wray was appointed by Trump 2. Rosenstein was appointed by Trump 3. Mueller was appointed by Rosenstein 4. Only these three have seen the evidence mueller has gathered( all republicans) 5. None of them have called for an end to the investigation 6. I know what that tells me.......... Quote

The reason they lied, is because it's not politically advantageous to tell the truth, that does not mean that Trump committed any crime, it could simply mean that Trump doesn't want to be embarrassed by a political witch hunt, and what politician would want to be embarrassed by a politicial witch hunt. Trump is just doing what all Presidents do in the face the witch hunt, just talk over its head and go directly to the people, trying to stop the witch hunt by executive force, doesn't work, that's the Saturday Night Massacre, but if you calculate that your base in going to stick with you through thick and thin and so the Senate is not going to remove you, then you just keeping rallying the base and if you get impeached, you cross that bridge when you get there. Clinton did the same thing, and the Republicans claimed they had a smoking gun they never had. Trump is simply stealing from Clinton's playbook, this time the shoe is simply on the other foot. Trump Haters are unable to see how Clintonesque the Mueller Investigation when they called out the Starr Investigation for the same thing, but now because the witch hunt is against a POTUS they don't like, so they forgot how counter-productive their actions are because they are so desperate to get rid of Trump.
