We sell our oil to the states, yet we donate the money to the east so you can drive your escalade to the pumps!!! We are paying lots out here too. Talk to your hero Martin and ask him for federal relief....never gonna happen. Remember this, corruption starts at the top and shit rolls down hill! The GST is much better for the economy than the manufacturers sales tax it replaced. You are trying to point to a TWELVE year old tax that your party has not touched and blame it on the Conservatives? What about the cancelling of the Avro Arrow? That was fifty years ago. Isn't that a good reason not to vote conservative? Or what about John A. being a drunk? Isn't that a good reason not to vote conservative? Quote
Cameron Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Jesus, Lib, are you f-ing retarded....Read my whole post!!! They (PC) said "We are going to bring in the GST"...and they did, people didn't like it, but it was implemented. Chretien said "I will get rid of the GST!".....well, it's still here...soooo, where is the logic??? Please explain where you are going with this???? If you are complaining about the GST, why are you complaining about it???? If it is so bad, why is it still here??? OR are we reaching beyond your intellect? Cameron Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Click the link and you will see that in ONLY the territories is the GST higher than the provincial sales tax when determining the price of gas...so how is the GST to blame? cybercoma Posted August 16, 2005 Report Posted August 16, 2005 Why is the federal government taking taxes off gasoline anyway? Don't roads fall under provincial jursidiction? If they eliminated the 10 cent excise tax plus the GST, gas would be significantly cheaper right now. Quote

Jean Chretien won 2 more elections AFTER the 1993 election so that makes the G.S.T. promise irrevelant! If it was a big issue HE WOULD HAVE LOST THE NEXT ELECTION! HELLO!!!! MODERATOR? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I might not use the f-word, but if you are not going to listen to what people are telling you it tends to get on peoples nerves... Mulroney actually won on the promise of GST and NAFTA...(I think) in '88, The only reason people didn't like him the third time around is because they had to take a hit in the beginning with the GST, in the end it did pan out and made us more competitive on the international market and enabled us to control the debt. The reason it is still here is because it's a cash cow for the government, no mater what party is in, they will keep the GST, they will just make promises about where the money will go.... Guest eureka Posted August 17, 2005 Report Posted August 17, 2005 Mulroney revealed his plans for the FTA his election. He had spoken against it before the election. NAFTA was hardly anything new: just an add-on to the FTA. Quote
August1991 Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 This is an interesting web site with gasoline prices at specific gas stations in different cities of provinces/states. Quote

mirror Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 Gas prices too high to post for many stations What a dreadful article. Of couse gas stations can post their prices. How much does it cost to have a sign made or to adjust a current sign? It is not like they did not have time to get their act together about these increase in prices. And who do these gas stations think they are kidding by NOT posting a price? Any time I cannot see the price I never even bother to stop! Quote

mirror Posted August 21, 2005 Report Posted August 21, 2005 Why not force them to post the company's profits? Taxes are essential for a healthy social democratic society. And most stations already show what the taxes are on their pumps. I would like to see all stores post their prices in one friggin' measure - metric, and show the prices with all the taxes included especially the PST if you have one, & the GST. This is a major corporate con job and consumers are being ripped off as a result. Quote

As long as they post their expenditures. There is no corporate con jobs, only greedy tax and spend socialist governments and the effects of treehugger regulations on the oil companies. In vancouver for instance they have a 6 cent a liter transit tax. That 6 cents should be reflected in the price of a transit ticket. Not some hocus pocus book keeping nonsense to get someone else to pay for their ride. Quote
