Moonlight Graham Posted January 19, 2017 Report Posted January 19, 2017 Just wanted to post this, if anyone has never heard it. First of all, it's a beautiful song. 2nd, it's made by a Canadian band (in 2001), where the main guitarist/singer Gordie Johnson typically uses lots of Canadian made amps/gear etc. (ie: Traynor amps and amp cabinets, and a guitar effects like this one made in Canada first used by The Guess Who on "American Woman"), and 3rd the song talks about a very Canadian story many have felt in this country over the last couple of decades. The lyrics are fairly straight forward, except that "All Hell for a Basement" is a quote from Rudyard Kipling referring to the vast underground oil reserves under Medicine Hat, Alberta. So the song is talking about a working man who has lost his job, thinking about moving out to AB to work for the booming oil industry out there. Enjoy. Here are the lyrics. Quote "All generalizations are false, including this one." - Mark Twain Partisanship is a disease of the intellect.
Moonlight Graham Posted January 19, 2017 Author Report Posted January 19, 2017 Here's an acoustic version of the song, different but actually amazingly done. Gordie Johnson is a magnificent Canadian musician. Quote "All generalizations are false, including this one." - Mark Twain Partisanship is a disease of the intellect.
