Commuting on an electric longboard

Old guy here, never learned to skateboard. Has anyone got any experience with electric longboards that seem to be emerging for commuters? The claimed range is up to 8-12 miles, and of course that could be extended by pushing. This might be just right for 6 months of the year or so. I am seeing them on the bike paths in the city. The range should be good for a large percentage of commuters, and those coming in from the suburbs could use it to get to the train. Boards are small enough to fit on trains, and bring into the office and store under the desk. I don`t know what the recharge time is, but if it is less than the workday you would be ready for the ride home. Sounds like a great way to address many of the issues around energy/emissions associated with commuting.

A neighbour kid has one and they're great. I've tried it a few times. The kid has the best motorized toys, though he is also rather plump which may be related. I am also old but long boards are easy to ride, though I was a low level skater back in the 90's. Still, I see E-bikes or even the tiny 2-stroke motor additions to regular bikes as a better option for commuting.

Tried one for a while. Not a good idea. Had to get someone to create a series of gears for different conditions and the turning radius will put you into an oncoming lane. Carrier only has room for a 12 pack.

Only a 12 pack? WTF?! How will we ever win if the carbon free and active options can't haul an appropriate amount of booze? Edited by Guest
