?Impact Posted September 29, 2016 Author Report Posted September 29, 2016 Impact the manufacturing sector was destroy by the ONT liberals. 300,000 jobs gone for a stupid green energy policy. Let's see, the green energy policy put a 4-5% higher cost onto electricity consumed (small part of manufacturing), and the inflated dollar put a 50% higher cost onto the end product. Not sure where you took math, but 4-5% of say 10-20% is way, way less than 50% of the final item.
Argus Posted September 29, 2016 Report Posted September 29, 2016 His single minded focus on selling oil (which he failed at miserably) decimated our manufacturing sector, and when the dollar finally returned to normal it was too late to rebuild. Thank you, Mr. Trump, for making those precise economic statements without a shred of supporting evidence. It might surprise you to learn that the prime minister is not actually in charge of selling things. You progressives make it sound like he was a store manager constantly directing incoming customers to the oil and gas shelves or something. "Oh ignore those manufactured items, ma'am, this oil and gas is so much better!". Not sure where you took math, but 4-5% of say 10-20% is way, way less than 50% of the final item. The Ontario Liberals doubled the cost of electricity in Ontario, which had a heavy overall impact on manufacturing, as did the fact they raised taxes by 70%.. Add onto that they've made it virtually impossible to develop new natural resources. Argus Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 Do you not see the absurdity of those two posts, especially so close together? Nope. Electricity prices in Ontario are a result of government policy. Canada selling oil is a result of independent commercial enterprises developing it and shipping it across our borders. What do you imagine happened anyway? Suncor was just sitting on a vast lake of oil until Harper called them up and begged them to sell some to the Americans? PIK Posted September 30, 2016 Report Posted September 30, 2016 Impact I have worked with many industry in my time and the reason so many left ONT is the liberal governments policies. Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
?Impact Posted October 1, 2016 Author Report Posted October 1, 2016 Electricity prices in Ontario are a result of government policy. If you mean the Mike Harris Electricity Act of 1998 that made market based prices, I agree. Other than that, the government has very little effect on the prices other than subsidizing green energy (4-5% of your bill). and subsidizing like their dumb $34 rebate I just heard on the radio.
poochy Posted October 1, 2016 Report Posted October 1, 2016 Yes the energy board that is appointed by the government, that controls the prices, clearly has no connection to the policies put in place by the government that appoints it.

But Harris, But Harris....14 years ago. Who's been in power since?
?Impact Posted October 1, 2016 Author Report Posted October 1, 2016 Yes the energy board that is appointed by the government, that controls the prices, clearly has no connection to the policies put in place by the government that appoints it. The energy board approves the prices based on the market demands. They have very little control over the actual prices, just the when and how they are distributed across the customer base.
poochy Posted October 1, 2016 Report Posted October 1, 2016 The energy board approves the prices based on the market demands. They have very little control over the actual prices, just the when and how they are distributed across the customer base. Yea, keep telling yourself that.
Argus Posted October 1, 2016 Report Posted October 1, 2016 Yea, keep telling yourself that. Right up until his favorite politician is bounced out on her ass next election. Smallc Posted October 1, 2016 Report Posted October 1, 2016 Right up until his favorite politician is bounced out on her ass next election. Given history, that's a very unlikely outcome.
PIK Posted October 3, 2016 Report Posted October 3, 2016 Quebec and Manitoba offered ONT all the power they want . Green, clean, sustainable and cheap. But no we are going to spend 50 billion and destroy this once great province. Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
Smallc Posted October 3, 2016 Report Posted October 3, 2016 Manitoba power isn't cheap anymore. Not like it used to be anyway.
?Impact Posted October 3, 2016 Author Report Posted October 3, 2016 Quebec and Manitoba offered ONT all the power they want . Green, clean, sustainable and cheap. Really, show us the long term proposals. b.t.w., the Manitoba power is a long way from the Ontario market. Lot's of power loss.
PIK Posted October 3, 2016 Report Posted October 3, 2016 Quebec could have handles most of it or even all of it. But the point is , we have our own dam system that can look after 21000mws and we barely get to that level. We can now produce 36000mw if we wanted. So enough of this green energy bullshit. Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
PIK Posted October 3, 2016 Report Posted October 3, 2016 www.ieso.ca Here is the government web site on usage. Read and weep for how little we get for all the suffering this government has put us thru. Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
?Impact Posted October 3, 2016 Author Report Posted October 3, 2016 we have our own dam system that can look after 21000mws Hydro only works if there is water behind those dams. You can't drive it to capacity 24/365, the reservoirs will quickly deplete and the lights will go out.
PIK Posted October 3, 2016 Report Posted October 3, 2016 OMG I cant believe you would say something so stupid. Our dams hardly are even used. Niagara falls is lucky to be running at 40%. We have 240 dams .let start using them again. And when these dams are not being used, we still have to pay the employees, they do not get sent home or laid off off. Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
