So...in light of Vic Fideli dropping out and endorsing Christine Elliot, I need to ask...

Does anybody know what she stands for besides "building a Big Blue tent"?

My fear is that she coasted into her current seat on the coat tails of Flaherty and will ride them to the leadership.

Whenever I've seen her speak in the Legislature or leadersbip debates I've been less than impressed.

Is she the Olivia Chow of the right?

Now if she decides to run on a platform of public funding for private schools and getting rid of 100,000 public sector jobs then ...

You mean telling the truth........You are right that was a terrible call. But nobody has the talent of lying better than a Liberal and the best of the best are the Ontario Liberals

To Newfoundlander - Yes, I heard that Lisa will be running in Baird's previous riding. It has been changed but Lisa seems a favourite and ready to go federal.

So that leaves just Elliot and Brown as serious contenders...although I'm betting Elliot will win.

I always felt the whole field was too Conservative...filled mainly with the big guns from Harris and Hudak. Where's the progressive with these people? I don't see a whole lot of it.

I think they could do better by being more progressive on the social policy front while staying fiscally conservative.

Hmmm. Seems like a coronation to me. I wonder if "Mum" likes preserves with her crumpets. :)

The battle of the PC party in Ontario continues with a struggle between the progressive conservatives and the Harris conservatives. The last few years the Harris conservatives took power but were rejected by the electorate but they continue to hold power within the party. John Tory was the last progressive conservative who made a mistake of actually telling people what he planned to do.

Hudak was proud to campaign as a Harris clone (and got public support from Mike) and he paid the price.

The next government has to be formed by the PC party - unless - they again decide to run on a Harris like program.

I think Elliot will be tainted by Harris AND Hudak. She has more baggage than perhaps all of them.

I don't know if any of the choices can be considered progressive.

Exactly. Must I go back and quote the rabble poo-poo'ing the "thirst for power" at any cost?

I say own it. "We know the public wants a soft touch, progressive.....we want in and she's the best we got so.....whaddaya say electorate...wanna give us a chance now?" If it's good for FedLibs should be fine for PCs.

Patrick Brown has a lot of support in the party. He's got a number of federal MPs on his as well people within the party. Christine Elliott has a bigger profile and more public support but I think Brown will be able to pull a good number. It's all about who they can sign up to vote.

Why?

I think she'll be tainted by Harris and Hudak because she was in both their cabinets. I've already seen people criticizing her for it. The Liberals never pass on a chance to slam Harris even though he's been gone forever. I can see them trotting out the spectre of Hudak as well simple...because they can!

Hudak's a bozo but Mike Harris is starting to look pretty darn good nowadays......three criminal investigations underway on the Liberal crooks, Debt and Deficits that will cripple us for years......three long years to go - and Lord help us - a potential of more of the same on the Federal scene. Frankly though, I think Kathleen Wynne and the Ontario Liberals may end up to be a saving grace for the country. Chances are, Ontarians will be so fed up with the corruption that they will lash out at the Trudeau mirror image and hand Harper a resounding majority.

It is the only chance the country has right now and especially us in Ontario.

4 more years of the dictator, surely you jest. He needs to take time off ad read up on the constitution, charter, supreme court etc. You know, little things like that a real PM is supposed to understand.

Well JT has shown he is in the running for the George W Bush public speaking scholarship.

Every time he opens his mouth the Conservatives get a bump in the polls
