Wilber Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 (edited) Very sad, one of the original Vancouver Canucks and a hockey great. http://sports.nationalpost.com/2014/11/24/pat-quinn-dies-at-71-after-lengthy-illness/ Edited November 24, 2014 by Wilber Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". Mighty AC Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 He was great for Canadian hockey. Quote "Our lives begin to end the day we stay silent about the things that matter." - Martin Luther King Jr"Those who can make you believe absurdities, can make you commit atrocities" - Voltaire
dre Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 Sad indeed. I was a huge hockey fan when he ran the Canucks in the early 90's. He did agreat job IMO. Quote I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger
overthere Posted November 24, 2014 Report Posted November 24, 2014 RIP. He was hopeless at his last NHL coaching job, but still a great contribution to hockey overall. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
Wilber Posted November 24, 2014 Author Report Posted November 24, 2014 RIP. He was hopeless at his last NHL coaching job, but still a great contribution to hockey overall. Well, it's not like the Oilers have done anything since. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC
overthere Posted November 25, 2014 Report Posted November 25, 2014 Well, it's not like the Oilers have done anything since. I have an inside track, occasionally, with one their staff. There was something actually wrong with Quinn when he was with the Oilers. He did not know the names of some of the regular players halfway through the season. Maybe it was connected to the illness that he died from. But he did his best I am sure. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!

Maybe it was connected to the illness that he died from. But he did his best I am sure. Sounds like it. According to people who worked with him over the years, he was known for remembering the names of people and details of their personal lives. sharkman Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 RIP. He was hopeless at his last NHL coaching job, but still a great contribution to hockey overall. He was far more than merely a great contribution to hockey. His hockey career may have been merely that, but he really found his midas touch behind the bench, and in management. His deals while in Vancouver are the stuff of legend. His pick of Pavel Bure was nearly on par with Gretsky's entrance into the league. They do not make 'em like that anymore. Quote
The_Squid Posted November 27, 2014 Report Posted November 27, 2014 Well said Sharkman. He was a great hockey man, and by all accounts, a great man in general. RIP Quote
WestCoastRunner Posted March 18, 2015 Report Posted March 18, 2015 (edited) The Canucks put on a great tribute to Pat Quinn tonight prior to the game. And fittingly enough, it is St. Patrick's Day. A roster of great players from the Canucks were on hand, Pavel, Kirk McLean, Trevor showed up in his jersey, and many others. And the city renamed a stretch of road near GM Place to 'Pat Quinn Way'. A very emotional tribute for his wife, two daughters and granddaughter. Edited March 18, 2015 by WestCoastRunner Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels.
