Big Guy Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 I watched that Kansas City - Oakland playoff game last night. One of the most exciting and active games that I have seen all year. Some people prefer a no-hitter. I enjoy a 9 to 8 extra inning game; http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/nationals/kansas-city-royals-beat-oakland-as-to-win-wild-card-game-9-8-in-extra-innings/2014/10/01/5250cb02-48e8-11e4-a046-120a8a855cca_story.html Any predictions on future games? Boges Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 Los Doyers all the way. Screw every single AL team, especially the Orioles and Royals. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 The KC-A's game demonstrated the single most endearing quality about baseball (to me).....no clock fosters eternal hope...sometimes rewarded. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

And the fact that no one with gainful employment on the East Coast likely saw it. The MLB needs to start their games earlier. Quote

No...that's the beauty of that game...many people went to bed assuming that KC would not overcome the 7-3 deficit. Those that stayed with it got into extra innings and a game for the ages. This is why I always DVR games....something special might happen. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
overthere Posted October 2, 2014 Report Posted October 2, 2014 The Angels look pretty good. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
Boges Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 WTH Dodgers? I thought Clayton Kershaw was good! Both LA teams were top seeds and both LA teams LOSE!!!! The Angels getting swept by the Wildcard team. People always thought those 90's Braves teams were such a disappointment making the playoffs so many teams and never delivering. It's clear playoff baseball is a different animal. Just ask the Moneyball era A's. Quote

Boges Posted October 8, 2014 Report Posted October 8, 2014 BTW both teams that made big moves at the Trade Deadline. GONE!!! The teams in LA that ran up huge payrolls with star players GONE!!! These aren't things that would have made the Jays automatically successful. It's a bummer though, because the Jays tanked in August. Had they been simply mediocre that month they could have made the playoffs. And we see with KC that once you're in all bets are off. Quote

Nobody suggested that the Jays would have made the playoffs with a single trade. Their pitching is much worse than that, and their major holes elsewhere are equally obvious. But that does not and should not stop AA from incremental trades, and he should very definitiely have traded(for example) Lind when his value - for the only time in his career- would have brought something. You keep avoiding reality: the Jays of June were the anomaly, not the Jays of August. They are simply medicocre. Again and always. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
