Topaz Posted September 9, 2014 Report Posted September 9, 2014 Apparently, there are about 14 MP's leaving from all parties but so far the Conservative MP's are leading and there are still some of them that haven't made up their minds. Many of them are leaving because of the new election boundaries, but some have just decide it just time to go. My question is, where are they going to seat the increase in MP's in 2015?? http://www.punditsguide.ca/2014/04/fourteen-mp-retirements-and-their-impact-in-2015/ Quote
Smallc Posted September 9, 2014 Report Posted September 9, 2014 In the House of Commons. Pretty simple. Quote
waldo Posted September 9, 2014 Report Posted September 9, 2014 no - as discussed in the 2015 Election Prediction thread, the relatively recent update just for Harper Conservatives is at 18 incumbents not seeking re-election in 2015: Quote
Big Guy Posted September 9, 2014 Report Posted September 9, 2014 Personally. I would like to see new electoral boundaries which increase the size of each riding and decrease the number of MP's. We have to be careful. In the USA, after the partisan gerrymandering was allowed, many districts will always be voting Democratic or Republican, because of the "strange" ways in which they were redrawn. This has created virtual "monarchies" which are ruled for life by whoever is lucky enough to get elected when the previous one dies. Harper Conservatives are certainly trying to emulate U.S. Republicans... the masters of partisan disenfranchisement. So bold are they that they pump-up their own strategy and brazenly report on just how successful they've been... Boris will like the "RedMap"! Quote
