FutureCanadian Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 As an interested party, I'd like to know more than the general knowledge of parliament and such. Any good books or websites that detail such topics? Quote
Moonlight Graham Posted January 7, 2014 Report Posted January 7, 2014 Popular university textbook that is basically Canadian government & politics 101: https://www.nelsonbrain.com/shop/en/CA/storefront/canada?cmd=CLHeaderSearch&fieldValue=0176509461&targetURL=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hed.nelson.com%3A80%2Fnelsonhed%2Fcatalog.do%3Fcourseid%3DHPO13%26disciplinenumber%3D20 or http://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/0176501657/ref=pd_lpo_sbs_dp_ss_1?pf_rd_p=1535015942&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=0176415068&pf_rd_m=A3DWYIK6Y9EEQB&pf_rd_r=179VSF4AE9EFWSZCW2G9 It's a bit expensive so search for it at your local library. Or take a trip to your library and find similar books. Quote "All generalizations are false, including this one." - Mark Twain Partisanship is a disease of the intellect.

WWWTT Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Read all of the bambino's post here on MLW Bad advise! WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! Total fail of the moderation on this site! That reminds me, never ask Greg to be a business partner! NEVER!

Moonlight Graham Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Read all of the bambino's post here on MLW Well, Bambino knows what he does because he too once read it somewhere, likely in a similar book the OP is looking for. bleeding heart Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Bingo. It's not that I assume bambino is always right. It's that he knows more than I do on the particular subject, and so he's my MLW go-to guy. If an issue is partisan, his opinion reduces in value to that of....well, my own, I guess. Quote “There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. On every other file we were offside. Eventually we came onside on Haiti, so we got another arrow in our quiver." --Bill Graham, Former Canadian Foreign Minister, 2007
cybercoma Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 I would wager money that bambino knows more about the structure and function of our system of governance than anyone on this forum or most any other forum. But he's not a book, so I guess the point is moot. Quote

Of course a book would do.....but I somehow doubt the intention is to read some weighty tome the Westminister Parl System But I could be wrong. Quote
