Topaz
I guess Segal has had enough of this government and is leaving in July 2014, along with two other Conservative senator who are calling it quits. I think many Canadians supported Segal view that due process was not apply to the three senators and the three other senators involved in the scandal haven't paid their dues in the coverup. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/conservative-senator-leaving-red-chamber-for-massey-college/article15942594/

Due process has nothing to do with Senate rules.
g_bambino
I guess Segal has had enough of this government . Yeah, 'cause that's why so many senators have quit over the years. They never have the endurance to outlast a government they personally don't agree with.

Due process has nothing to do with Senate rules. no - a Senate rule speaks directly to the qualification necessary for suspension of a Senator. Canada: Rules of the Senate Suspension of Senator 15-5. (1) A Senator who has been found guilty of a criminal offence in proceedings by indictment and who is given a sentence other than a discharge is suspended from the Senate as of the time of the sentence. g_bambino
Due process has nothing to do with Senate rules. Do you mean it isn't written into the Senate rules? Or that it can't work with Senate rules?
ReeferMadness
Are senators resigning ahead of the release of the expense audit findings?
Remiel
Huge loss for Canada. I have had issue with a couple of the things he has said in the past but the way he has stood up for our institutions recently has more than made up for it.
