Due process has nothing to do with Senate rules. no - a Senate rule speaks directly to the qualification necessary for suspension of a Senator. Canada: Rules of the Senate Suspension of Senator 15-5. (1) A Senator who has been found guilty of a criminal offence in proceedings by indictment and who is given a sentence other than a discharge is suspended from the Senate as of the time of the sentence. Remiel Posted December 15, 2013 Report Posted December 15, 2013 Huge loss for Canada. I have had issue with a couple of the things he has said in the past but the way he has stood up for our institutions recently has more than made up for it. Quote
