Ya that's a quality that I'm looking for in a leader, how some other people perceive him

A well liked leader tends to get more work accomplished than a private, cold person like Harper.

And there is more. Trudeau has more experience in the real world than Stephen Harper. As noted above he was a teacher and he grew up enjoying the benefits of his name as well as being a prisoner of such a famous name and being exposed to hatred because of his name. He was able to enjoy the wide world his parents offered, including travel, meeting people with brilliant minds and let's not forget the endless political talks that must have been shared in that household.

And most importantly, he is well liked.

I had the opportunity years ago to meet with the elder Trudeau at a non official visit to a private house in Calgary. There were 5 or 6 of us in total. I was amazed at the mans intelligence. I can only imagine Justin benefited greatly from growing up in that environment. It's quite likely what motivated him to travel and gain the experiences he has.

For sure, he was a very intelligent man with a lot of passion for Canada.

With regard to Justin, I on the one hand would like to see him more front and center with his agenda, but on the other, I can understand sitting back while Harper dances the funky chicken between scandals. It certainly worked well for Chretien back in the day, and there is still ample time to decide on the timing, if you will.

Well, it's interesting you should say that because when he was in Vancouver in early april, a reported covered his speech before the Vancouver Board of Trade. He had also covered Pierre's speech in Nelson, BC back in the day. The reported noted that the elder Trudeau had more charisma but that Justin had much more substance to his speech. You can read it here.

Interesting article, than you. And what it says to me is that what Justin needs to do is combine substance with a little of the old mans style and he's away to the races. I for one am bored to tears with stale talking points from Harper and Co., that seem to insinuate that I am the dummy.

Says the guy under the bed cowering at the thought of Justin being his leader.

Wouldn't make me cower under my bed. It might wake me up with screaming nightmares.

screaming nightmares? Really? Why such a strong reaction from an American? Seems quite bizarre/over-the-top!

He was a kid when he traveled the world. Harper has 5travel the world and has met and worked with many world leaders , trudeau has not. And the endless socialist talk he listen to will be his down fall. But lets not forget trudeau himself said he worked as a bartender for 2 shifts and quit because it was to hard, 2 shifts and he quit. And those are his words. Trudeau has lived a protected life and does not understand the world of wanting or having to work hard and make sacrafices to get what you want.

tell me PIK, what 'sacrifices' has your favoured Stephen Harper made to, as you say, "get what he wants"? Detail for me your "Stephen Harper sacrifice" reference bar that any other party leaders must measure up to?

I think that is pretty obvious. Harper worked for this most of his life for this gig, he was not travelling the world 1st class and living at 24 sussex, constantly being told how beautiful and smart he is.

Contrasting him with PET?

Is it not time to let this topic go? The Harper one petered out at 21 pages months ago and that guy has numerous actual reasons to resign owing to being PM.

So true.

Harper was on bended knee asking for daddy to employ him at Esso. Not to mention stuck with small minded people he surrounded himself with (the exception being manning) :D

Talk about rewriting history. It is true that Trudeau may very well be the next Prime Minister. That doesn't mean that the truth has to be butchered. Trudeau is by far, the most lightweight contender for PM in the history of Canada. No one else comes close. No one.

Joe Clark.

Not a bad effort - but old Joe was a giant next to JT. Like I said - he may very well be the next PM......but he's just not very bright.

Then it must be a little scary for Harper that Joe doesn't seem like him very much, and nor does Preston. (I assume he's probably your other giant?)

I keep thinking that JT needs to start outlining policy and maybe scoring more points during QP, (Mulcair has been keeping Harper dancing the funky chicken quite effectively) but on the other hand, as long as Harper keeps shooting himself in the foot, why not just stand back and let him go to it.

Where trudeau did not have to beg for a job, daddy and mommy looked after him, and still are. lol

I would like to know what they think of the ONT pension plan.
