Lenny_Bruce Posted May 9, 2013 Author Report Posted May 9, 2013 The most renowned scientist of the last century turned down an offer for the presidency. That's one of the coolest things about this Hawking move, Israel has been riding the Einstein image for so long, yet Einstein really had nothing to do with Israel at all. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) The most renowned scientist of the last century turned down an offer for the presidency. That's one of the coolest things about this Hawking move, Israel has been riding the Einstein image for so long, yet Einstein really had nothing to do with Israel at all. Perhaps you do not understand the underlying point and Mr. Einstein's major contributions to Israel's "national security" that go far beyond Mr. Hawking's now famous published mistake(s). Einstein matters far more than Hawking. Edited May 9, 2013 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
hitops Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 Israel's best times of peace were immediatley after stomping the varoius malcontents around them. Their times of greatest risk were when they tried to make peace, give up territority etc. I see no rational reason why they should discontinue the stomping approach. Quote
Hudson Jones Posted May 9, 2013 Report Posted May 9, 2013 The most renowned scientist of the last century did a lot more for Israel than anything Hawking can do for Palestine. If you are talking about Einstein, he was no fan of the type of zionism that started to develop in the 40's and what we see today. He supported a Jewish homeland but opposed the establishment of a Jewish state in Palestine preferring a bi-national state. If he were alive today, he would also be boycotting Israel. He even wrote a few letters condemning Zionist Fascism in Israel. Here is part of one of the letters which was published in the NYT: Before irreparable damage is done by way of financial contributions, public manifestations in Begin's behalf, and the creation in Palestine of the impression that a large segment of America supports Fascist elements in Israel, the American public must be informed as to the record and objectives of Mr. Begin and his movement. The public avowals of Begin's party are no guide whatever to its actual character. Today they speak of freedom, democracy and anti-imperialism, whereas until recently they openly preached the doctrine of the Fascist state. It is in its actions that the terrorist party betrays its real character; from its past actions we can judge what it may be expected to do in the future. Attack on Arab Village A shocking example was their behavior in the Arab village of Deir Yassin. This village, off the main roads and surrounded by Jewish lands, had taken no part in the war, and had even fought off Arab bands who wanted to use the village as their base. On April 9 (THE NEW YORK TIMES), terrorist bands attacked this peaceful village, which was not a military objective in the fighting, killed most of its inhabitants 240 men, women, and children - and kept a few of them alive to parade as captives through the streets of Jerusalem. Lenny_Bruce Posted May 9, 2013 Author Report Posted May 9, 2013 Their times of greatest risk were when they tried to make peace, give up territority etc. Well since they never tried doing either, its no surprise that they never got peace. Bush Cheney: Einstein hated the fact that he was always going to be associated with the Atomic Bomb. That was not a legacy he was happy about. I do not know how the Third World War will be fought, but I can tell you what they will use in the Fourth — rocks!
