B.C. Liberals drop the NDP a nice parting present.

Recommended Posts

Under an agreement with Ottawa, the provincial government will pay back
the $1.6 billion over the next five years with no interest

So IOW as the liberals leave they leave the NDP
with a crippling 1.6 billion dollar bill to pay off over 5 years which
just happens to be about the term length. So they can blame the NDP for
running a big deficit over the next 4 years, then claim that they've
greatly lowered the deficit when they (so they hope) get back into power 4 years
later.

Well, the HST debacle is in very large part responsible for the NDP being ahead in the polls the way they are, so I guess they don't mind too much. That 1.6 bil was in large part why the Libs went for the HST in the first place, so they could continue to claim to be good budget managers. Presumably tho, that repayment is reflected in the LIbs' current budget, so they've had to deal with it too.

Liberal ineptitude and dishonesty created the entire issue to begin with. To blame anyone else is assinine.

That's true, the Liberals shot themselves in the foot and the NDP jumped on the band wagon to take advantage of public outage. They got what they wanted so have nothing to complain about. The 1.6 billion came from Ottawa on condition the HST was implemented. We reneged on the deal so the money goes back. Simple.

That makes no sense. They are the opposition party. What was the alternative?

That makes no sense. Anyone can blindly oppose everything with no thought for the consequences. Now it looks like they will be stuck with the very consequences they were demanding. Just sayin.

Say goodbye Mr Dix. While clark was campaining hard the last 2 weeks when people actually pay attention, he is walking around with that I can't lose look . He wears it well.

On the local Global network, around 6pm, their reporter was reporting from the NDP headquarters and well doing so, mentioned that Dix was on-stage in the background practicing his victory speech...........priceless
