guyser
Sometimes they have to or their would be dead air. When U.S. cable operators started to carry so called "super stations", national audiences would see carpet commercials for Atlanta on TBS. Down there yes, but not here if a CDN broadcaster is simulcasting the same thing. One can easily see this when leading into the 11 oclock news from say big bang theory , as the hour approaches and the show is ending it may jump to the last seconds of a US commmercial and then the news comes on. That's what I meant.....it has to happen sometimes because the cutaways and synchronization can't be perfect. Tape delay might make it easier. U.S. cable subscribers got use to it for superstations like TBS (Atlanta), WGN (Chicago), KTLA (Los Angeles). The most obvious misplaced local advertising is for franchises that are only regional (McDonald's = national/international while In-N-Out Out Burger is regional.) But in all seriousness you can just get an American feed nowadays, it's not difficult, no need to wait until 2017. CRTC needs to adapt and they are slowly learning that. On Guard for Thee
That's what happens with state controlled media ! Gotta protect Canadian culture from marauding Amerikanskis ! guyser
Funded, not controlled. The same as in the US, but that is either denied or ignored to be able to come out and troll. Old Old old. Was tired after the second day, but some people can make trolling a pasttime. Pathetic, but not my problem.
bush_cheney2004
Controlled ...."thou shalt not show 'Murican ads while watching the Super Bowl". Maybe in 2017.....if the Information Minister says it's OK. ...so all throughout the counryside, the serfs would make or buy antennas made from rabbit ears in the desperate hope of receiving OTA signals from Southland. Or just go straight to the Southland via the Interwebs.
guyser
Controlled ...."thou shalt not show 'Murican ads while watching the Super Bowl".Ahh...that explains your misunderstanding of this. It most certainly is not ...."thou shalt not show 'Murican ads while watching the Super Bowl". But it does give you giggles so there is always that. Well done. bush_cheney2004
And then there is this... Correctional officers at the Southwest Detention Centre in Windsor, Ont., will be paid overtime to supervise inmates who watch Super Bowl XLIX this Sunday. Kickoff between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots is 6:30 p.m., after the inmates' normal lockup time. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/windsor/super-bowl-to-be-watched-by-inmates-as-guards-make-ot-1.2938135

Michael Hardner
http://www.stratfordbeaconherald.com/2015/02/07/more-canadians-per-capita-watched-super-bowl-than-americansAnd proving once against that BushCheney's characterizations of Canadians are spot on: America loves the Super Bowl. Canada loves it more. At least based on this year’s TV ratings. ... The Super Bowl was viewed by more people in Canada than in the United States, on a per-capita basis. TV ratings numbers provided this week by Canadian host broadcaster CTV indicate that 55% of all Canadians (19.3 million of 35.1 million) watched at least part of last Sunday night’s thrilling Super Bowl telecast, either on English broadcaster CTV or French network RDS. Of course, this super Canadian patriot was NOT watching the Superbowl. I'm saving up my sports-watching chips to cash them in and watch the Daytona 500 on February 22nd !
