bush_cheney2004 Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 ....Given that amount for each and a total of $1.33B For 11 F - 35s, 3 being F - 35As, we get a cost of $100M for each F-35A, or $138M Canadian. At this exchange, the Super Hornet, per these numbers, is at ~$97M - both being more than budgeted. The dollar is not on an upward trend. Houston, we have a problem. Indeed....and the Houston reference is most appropriate to this mostly American story. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Derek 2.0 Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) Someone told me there wouldn't be any more Super Hornets. The Blue Angles are clearly being forced fed the aircraft. Also, you're mixing the cost for the F/A-18 (5) and E/A - 18 (7); more dishonest than usual. The Price for the F/A - 18, according to the information, is $70M - less than in 2013. Dishonest? I clearly stated both averages contained more expensive variants, in addition, the flyaway cost often cited (and by you) in the ~$50-65 million range..............The 2013 fiscal year figure of course includes AN/ASQ-288 targeting pod, ECM, decoys etc.......the Blue Angels of course have no need for such items (or a gun) Edited December 17, 2015 by Derek 2.0 Quote
Derek 2.0 Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Some budget crunch...the United States is buying both F-35s and Super Hornets....and lots of other stuff. Canada is still trying to figure out what to buy and when to buy it. Indeed, over 60 aircraft a year (granted some are to be foreign sales)......LRIP 10 could be finalized by the end of the year, and its expected to include over 80 aircraft. Quote

Smallc Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 As I said, no fighters in this mandate Yes, you also said no Super Hornets for the USN and Harper Majority 2015. I'll take your predictions with an appropriately sized grain of salt. Quote

Smallc Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 I never said they did. You're implying that the jets are for the BA. The order is for 7 E/A-18s and 5 F/a-18s. Quote
Smallc Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 That I did, but then the Blue Angels apparently need a larger and heavier aircraft See, again implying that somehow there are 7 E/A-18s going to the Blue Angels. Quote

The funny part is that American aviation demonstration teams can get brand spanking new aircraft as an afterthought while Canada struggles to get badly needed replacements for decades. Smallc Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) it should be noted the actual end user of said Super Hornets..............maybe the new smoke machine had lead to the drastic Super Hornet price increase I never said they did. Smallc Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Where did I suggest the Growlers were going to the Blue Angels? And you called me dishonest........ You implied that this contract was for the Blue Angels aircraft. There are more Growlers coming than Hornets. You do the math on your own (baseless) assertions. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 Hey, when do we get to the part where Canada buys some replacement aircraft ? We already know that the U.S. builds them for lunch. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

bush_cheney2004 Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) Is your role now to run interference on defence issues? Check the OP...as in topic. Maybe start a new thread to discuss another nation's defense spending and aircraft procurements. Otherwise, this is just more of the fun circle jerk merry go round of what Canada is not doing, hasn't done, and will not do. It is just a surrogate contrast for what is not happening in Canada. WTF, over ? Edited December 17, 2015 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Super Hornets........so how does that equate to Growlers going to the Blue Angels? You can retract your false claim (or not), but I'm going to ignore you now, as you've now called into question, and not supported by fact, my honesty several times. Quote

WTF, over ? Indeed, the member is getting quite defensive over the new Liberal Government the he/she supported, namely in regards to the defense file........its telling when said member launches into personal barbs at other members. As I said, this Government will not procure a Hornet replacement inside this mandate........what are your thoughts? Yah or nay? Quote
