jbg Posted December 4, 2012 Report Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) enough of this crap go start a different thread you're deliberatly trolling... Are you saying you're a sasquatch undergoing discrimination? My serious point, which you call trolling, is to satirize the knee-jerk assertion of "rights" for every group of people, animals or entities one can imagine. On the liberal side, I am totally opposed to the Citizens United decision which gave equal free speech rights to corporations. My view is that people as individuals have rights. Animals should not be treated cruelly but the animal has no ability to assert such "rights" on its own behalf. As for "Palestinians" my view is that each person that is a member of the alleged group has a right. The made-up group as such has no rights. bleeding heart Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 How is it different? 1. If the Sasquatch should be given such rights, then certainly the Palestinians should be. 2. If the Palestinians are given such rights, then certainly the Sasquatch should be. The first is an arguably humorous reductio ad absurdum. The second implies that Palestinians are equal to or lesser than the Sasquatch; and it also implies that they shouldn't be given such rights. The "if/then" formula depends on placement of the subjects for its very meaning. Quote “There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. Stories of Sasquatch creep me out though, ever since I saw a petrifying double feature at the Hyland Theatre in North End Winnipeg of and . I sympathize...I'm a long-time horror buff, and so have spent a tremendous number of my entertainment hours being scared. Hell, it beats being scared by evil Arabs and robotic Commies and the like...though some people clearly enjoy that. jbg Posted December 6, 2012 Report Posted December 6, 2012 Yeah, but you gotta think the same way on ALL issues. If you don't, apparently you're a Republican. No one tells me how to think. For example, when I was in high school, in 1974, I was about the only student to favor the Nixon pardon. And that was after being one of the few that campaigned for McGovern. My views tend to be issue by issue. Which is why bubber and wylie call me a "closet Republican." Quote Free speech: "You can say what you want, but I don't have to lend you my megaphone." You have got to be f****** kidding or you don't know how to read.I am pro-choice. I am for civil unions among gays, but not for gay marriage. I am for robust government funding and support of public education. I regard the previous wars in Korea and VietNam as wars of choice. I voted for Carter twice, Clinton once and for Gore.
