Socialist's ideas seem eerily similar to the reasons Canada created the residential school system...

(I'm borrowing a link from Pliny, from another thread)

i want to eliminate racism, bigotry, intolerance, damage to the environment. Those are the four foundations to being a proper human being. If every kid could learn those four concepts this would be the greatest country in the world. don't make stupid stuff up melanie.

Thankful to have become a free thinker.

ROTFL.

You are one of the most intolerant bigots on this forum.

The most annoying thing about extremists is they have no self awareness and project their own faults onto others.

Good goals ... but Melanie is right.

If parents aren't abusing or neglecting children, NO ONE can force the kids to go anywhere.

And so it must be.

Socialist, you will do more damage than good with such a judgmental attitude towards parents. Try adopting a strength based approach, where you recognize that everyone brings some value to the table.

A STRENGTHS-BASED APPROACH is not a recipe for how things should be done, nor is it

a set of hard and fast rules; it is a way of responding—a belief that people have competencies

and resources, that they are able to learn NEW SKILLS, that they can address

their own concerns (it is not about professionals coming in to fix their problems)

and that they can be involved in the process of DISCOVERY and LEARNING. (Alliance for Children and

Youth of Waterloo Region, 2009).

For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.

That sounds to me like what is happening here.

Any religious parent has to explain to their child that their views are at odds with the general viewpoint on things...

I have to do that as an agnostic as well. My kids are ten now, and they are starting to ask me questions like "Is there a god". I tell them the truth... "I dont believe in god, but the vast majority of people in the world do.". And then I tell them... "Youre going to have to figure it out for yourself!". I told them if they were interested I would take them to sunday school.

Teach the process not the answers! People should teach children the tools they need to make their own decisions... Logic, reason, intuition, thought, observation, introspection. Then let em go and be people.

I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger

my parents sent me to church sunday school but I also inherited a cultural tradition to ask a lot of questions and challenge everything..by nine I had already quit church and on my way to being an atheist...

I don't agree with your "vast majority" believe in "the" god..some countries like India have a number of non-christian gods....many cultures are still animist, Buddhists don't have a god, and then there is china with a well over a billion atheists, european nations are transforming into atheist majorities, some already have attained it...china and India account for 40% of the worlds population add in all the other animists, atheists and agnostics and about 45-50% of the world's population do not believe in "the" god, far from a vast majority IMO....
