Fletch 27 Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 The liberal incumbent in Guelph was just found guilty and handed a fine for misleading voters and may face possible libel suit. Frank Veliote...... Why do you have say for yourself? A liberal can simply not change its spots it seems. Please! Discuss! Quote
punked Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 (edited) Come on I think the Liberals are as dirty but really all this is about is they didn't say the call was from the liberals. It was a crtc decision not an elections Canada decision or investigation. The liberals openly admitted to what they did and tried to hide nothing here. How about some details next time. Fletch 27 Posted August 24, 2012 Author Report Posted August 24, 2012 That's what the cbc is for. So, guilty os not "really" if it's a liberal? It will be interesting to see if the PC candidate moves ahead with a slander suite.... Topaz Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 Here's a link and yes he/they did wrong, are fined and it was wrong by CRTC and we'll have to wait to see what the CRTC says about any other party doing the same. http://www.guelphmercury.com/news/local/article/786692--crtc-slaps-guelph-liberals-with-4-900-fine-for-breaking-robocall-rules Quote
punked Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 (edited) I think the big point here is they weren't fined under the election act. They were fined because they made a Robocall without stating who it was from. Edited August 24, 2012 by punked Quote
Topaz Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 I think the court of public opinion, have a good idea who was behind the robocalls and until the evidence proves other wise, the Tories will be the bulls eye on the target. Canadians just want to know the WHOLE truth. Quote
Newfoundlander Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 Big whoop, at least they admitted to doing it. Quote
punked Posted August 24, 2012 Report Posted August 24, 2012 Big whoop, at least they admitted to doing it. For once we agree. I have been on campaigns many times I can see this just being an honest mistake forgetting the tag at the end "this call is from where ever". I mean it is an amateur mistake but the Liberals have been amateur hour for a while now so I can see them doing this and it being an honest mistake. Quote

Well they admitted right away that it was a mistake and that it should not have happened and they also didn't try and blame it on some 25 year old volunteer. I agree. It could happen to any campaign. This is one time I am on your side. This is a non story. Quote
Fletch 27 Posted August 24, 2012 Author Report Posted August 24, 2012 The comments made by the caller were slanderous, misleading and dishonest... Let's not gloss over that please... A "non story"? Ohhh the bias in here is stifling! I agree. It could happen to any campaign. This is one time I am on your side. This is a non story. Quote

That part you just made up or you are mistaking these calls for the calls made by CPCers that are currently under investigation. All they did wrong was not identify themselves. I accept your apology in advance for misleading people yourself though. Quote "I think it's fun watching the waldick get all excited/knickers in a knot over something." -scribblet

Fletch 27 Posted August 24, 2012 Author Report Posted August 24, 2012 (edited) This is a black mark on Election practices by liberals. This breaks the rules of influence and who knows how deep this goes within the liberal core. How many other ridings did the liberals pull this off in? Rules are there for a reason. This was a dirty tactic to win an election and complete lack of oversight by the liberal party. How many wildcat liberals are in tidings now misleading the public? There is no accountability (correction, the judge has made him account) within the party... The person used a fictitious name(!!!), an honest error???? Did that person forget his/her name? Why conceal the identity? Again, an honest error? They invented a name! Mr volaire needs to come clean.... Just how orchestrated of a campaign was this? No oversight, no accountability, misleading the public, no transparency, complete lack of regard for the voting public...... Oh, it's okay, they admitted to it...... I pitty our electoral process Edited August 24, 2012 by Fletch 27 Quote

Fletch 27 Posted August 24, 2012 Author Report Posted August 24, 2012 Well, it's not for me to charge her.... It's the tory candidate. That's how the legal system works here in Canada. If it was me, I would have his ass in court... But if a not for me to decide. Ask mom how it works So, your ok with the fake name I see... Just an itty bitty white lie.... Shame... Unlike you, I just don't exaggerate my outrage based on political party involved. But what were you referring to when you made the slander accusation?
