Tory robocalls defender under investigation for election offence

Recommended Posts

A 21K cheque was written to a voter contact organization and looks to constitute elections overspending.

One hopes this is just another unsubstantiated smear campaign coming from Elections Canada.

The allegations of Elections Act violations are listed in the court order compelling Frank Hall, owner of Holinshed Research Group, to produce emails, invoices and other documents related to work he did for Del Mastro.

An invoice submitted in a small-claims-court dispute brought by Holinshed against Del Mastro purports to show that Holinshed performed voter identification work as well as get-out-the-vote calls on election day for Del Mastro’s 2008 campaign. The company, once based in Ottawa, now no longer appears operational.

Another case of a Conservative paying directly from his personal account to a "Voter Idenification" firm.

I had never heard of this kind of thing before. I could not imagine a CFO of a party accepting this practice, knowing his butts on the line.

I was watching CTV, when Del Mastro walks down the stairs there, while Don Martin is on air. Little we viewers know that Del Mastro was on his way to CBC's Power and Politics to do a live interview about the charge. Also there was the journalist that brought this to the public. Everyone was cordial to the MP but when asked about the $21,000, he wouldn't say what the 21,000 was for, only for services render for the election of 2008. My question is what services cost 21,000? http://ca.news.yahoo.com/blogs/canada-politics/dean-del-mastro-stephen-harper-hand-man-could-173600653.html

On CBC, its already being dismissed.. Well, other than the QC liberal stating he should stand down till the "investigation" is done. She even said "then he can come back when he's proven not guilty"... If Elections Canada isn't open and transparent (they haven't contacted anyone!).. What trust do we have in them? Of coarse they (Opseu) are worried about having the cuts at elections Canada, but this is simply dirty tricks.. An affront to democracy...

Step down in the interim? Hmmmm, grasping at nothing... Mark my words.. Nuthin to find..

Something new could just open up on this. Dean was just on C-PAC and was being interviewed and he said something that could come back and bite him. When asked about the 21,000, he let it slipped that when he paid the 21,000 there wasn't an election at the time, but he has already said it was for work for the 2008 election. What could have happen is he got the service but delayed in paying because he knew he would be over the election limits and if so, he just outed himself!

Waiting for it... I'm watching what we call "the TV"... For you it may me called the "magic box"

Well I am sure you can clarify this for me.

1) The company received federal stimulus funding. *You praise it in another thread:

2) The comany is now bankrupt

3) The company is suing Del Mastro

Also, it nows appears that the company that Del Mastro paid/Did not pay, received $125,000 in federal stimulus money do develop database and robocall software.

Company claims in lawsuit it charged Del Mastro more for services than he reported on his 2008 campaign expenses

However, the larger question here is how did that dynamic duo get court sealed documents?

oh ya! McGregor and Maher are certainly the targets of Harper Conservative partisans... by the by... care to offer up a citation to identify the related court document(s) you're stating are "sealed"... on which you're basing your, at this stage, unsubstantiated implication towards McGregor/Maher?
