You would almost think that the oil/gas industry was in their back pockets. I'd like a personal security guard to keep the neighbourhood hooligans from taking my coffee money out of my car. It is just more proof that the rich benefit exponentially from tax dollars. The Koch brothers are supposed to be worth 25billion each. These people hate labour, hate the environment, and spit on government interference. Why are we paying for this again? This is a essentially a private security force... Pony up billionaires. Quote Ideology does not make good policy. Good policy comes from an analysis of options, comparison of options and selection of one option that works best in the current situation. This option is often a compromise between ideologies.
waldo Posted June 7, 2012 Report Posted June 7, 2012 This is a essentially a private security force... Pony up billionaires. exactly! First a firewall... now a Suzuki terrorist wall! Oh my! I expect, if actually disclosed, these "contractors" won't be far behind!... it's all about the optics - right? Surely, what's been good for the 'Eyerac'... Quote
Anti-Am Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 These billion dollar oil companies hire their own security and thugs to protect their interests. No need for this tax payer paid counter terrorism unit. Quote

And the oil companies thuggery will go uninvestigated. They can murder at will and the government will look the other way because it would "harm" the economy. Just like how the corps only pay some of the damage they do and the rest is up for taxpayers to pay. Quote

Anti-Am Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 (edited) You don't think regular people will kill to protect their interest? Hope you're not that naive. If that is true the oil companies CEO's would have been murdered already. Regular Canadians do not have the resources to kill any top executive. Approaching one would be near impossible with the security they have. Edited June 10, 2012 by Anti-Am Quote

I don't see how you can say a CT unit in Alberta would lead to oil companies murdering people at will without explanation. Quote Hope for the Best, Prepare for the Worst

They already do kill people but these corporations are practically untouchable so they get away with it cause they are good at covering their tracks. This Counter terrorism unit will only serve to notify the oil companies who is a threat to them. Those "terrorists" will then "disappear". Quote

While I'm not shocked that certain corporate entities would have their own covert police forces, you'll have to come up with some specific facts to back up your claims... Otherwise, you're heading into Tin Foil Hat Territory... Edited June 10, 2012 by Jack Weber Quote The beatings will continue until morale improves!!!

Signals.Cpl Posted June 10, 2012 Report Posted June 10, 2012 Billion dollar oil companies owned by foreign investors. How much proof do you need? What does that prove? That foreigners own companies in Canada? Are we to assume that every corporation owned by a foreigner murder at will? Honestly back up the claim with facts.
