g_bambino Posted May 31, 2012 Report Posted May 31, 2012 (edited) If I refuse to install cameras and black box on my boat when I go fishing I'm forced to take a human observer. We could do the same for politicians who similarly refuse to get with the program. Who chooses them? I'd go with a randomly picked citizen's assembly myself... To whom are they accountable? How can they be trusted with state secrets? How are they trained to know what's to be kept secret and what's not? Are you such a pedant that you really need to have the difference between individual privacy and state secrecy spelled out every time you come across a discussion involving greater government transparency and accountability? No, I'm a pedant insofar as I expect people to use the English language properly, express themselves with it clearly, and take responsibility for themselves when they don't. eyeball Posted June 1, 2012 Report Posted June 1, 2012 Who chooses them? http://www.archipelago.ca/ To whom are they accountable? Everyone, but starting from the bottom up. How can they be trusted with state secrets? The same way that Privacy Commissioners can be trusted with individual privacy. How are they trained to know what's to be kept secret and what's not? In the manner of PC's but with the obvious twist. No, I'm a pedant insofar as I expect people to use the English language properly, express themselves with it clearly, and take responsibility for themselves when they don't. I hear you loud and clear, I get precisely the same way when it comes to the things politicians and senior government officials tell me. Melanie_ Posted June 30, 2012 Report Posted June 30, 2012 i've been studying social justice for a number o years now. i know more about social justice than most. it seems to m that most canadians arent concerned about social justice which makes this country shameful. i would like to know what people on here think the definition of social justice is. there are many people out there who think they know what sj is but distort it so badly that its embarrassing. tell what you think sj is and ill let you know if you have an actual clue about the concept. dont bother posting if you cant post an intelligent definition of sj as i have no time to debate with the weak minded followers of capitalism. I get it! Social justice is about a departure from capitalism! And you are underscoring this by refusing to capitalize the first letter of each sentence you write! Down with capitalism, and it's bastard cousin, capitalization! Quote For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others. Everyone drives the same car, wears the same clothes and shoes, has the same watch? They have the same car? Is equality providing people with an opportunity to advance if they re competent or is equality giving resources to those unwilling to work for said resources?
