August1991 Posted May 16, 2012 Report Posted May 16, 2012 (edited) When can a chick or a pig claim Canadian residency? It's a tricky question that's confounding the federal government, as it struggles to sort out what meat products can claim to be a "Product of Canada" on food packaging. LinkAround the world, many people eat at McDonalds simply because they recognize the name, and the Golden Arches. ---- Should the State get involved in such identifying questions? Golden arches were an original feature of the earliest McDonald's brothers restaurants dating back to the early 1950's (later purchased by Ray Kroc), and pre-dates St. Louis' Gateway Arch by at least 10 years. McDonald's ads/logos for Canada feature a mapleleaf "logo" on the arches as well. Edited May 17, 2012 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

August1991 Posted May 18, 2012 Author Report Posted May 18, 2012 and that`s the same reason I don`t eat there. And you entirely miss my point - by getting it.Should we buy food because it is a Product of Canada? Or should we stop into McDonalds because we trust its food, and know what we'll get? Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 ... Or should we stop into McDonalds because we trust its food, and know what we'll get? Should or not, few consumer experiences are as consistent with uniform product as a trip to McDonald's, and this is by design. People who take too much time to read the menu may get a stern thought from regulars waiting in line, "C'mon...it's McDonald's!!" Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Guest Manny Posted May 18, 2012 Report Posted May 18, 2012 Here in Canada we have "Harvey's Hamburgers". I think it's Canadian owned, not totally sure. They make a pretty good burger. Quote

Yet private enterprise does. Voluntarily. Amazing. Here in Canada we have "Harvey's Hamburgers". I think it's Canadian owned, not totally sure. They make a pretty good burger.Canada? So that makes it safe.Or Manny, can you judge? How many burgers have you eaten at Harvey's? Note of care: Canadians (French or English) are notoriously practical.
