WWWTT Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 Grand Funk Railroad. I'm your captain/I'm getting closer to my home. This I believe was always intended to be just one song. However many radio stations enjoyed the fact that long songs cost the same amount as short ones in royalties but filled in much more air time.So many bands of the time(late sixties/seventies) started to name their songs differently so as to collect more royalties. But trying to rename your songs had a negative effect. And radio stations would still favour songs that were longer for the same royalty fee.Hence the success of Pink Floyd and Dark side of the Moon(5 or 6 songs over 3 minutes long). I'm not sure if this still applies now? WWWTT Quote Maple Leaf Web is now worth $720.00! Down over $1,500 in less than one year! Total fail of the moderation on this site! That reminds me, never ask Greg to be a business partner! NEVER!

kimmy Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 That was extremely cool... I liked the intro with the kettledrums, but the orchestra part was extremely tedious. And I have no idea what was going on in the video with the truckloads of dudes in swimsuits. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

But no more eccentric than Pink Floyd's Live at Pompei film... Quote The beatings will continue until morale improves!!!
kimmy Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 The real star of Deep Purple is Jon Lord, the organ player. A while back I saw this neat video where he explains how he developed the unmistakable sound: -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
