Topaz Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 A secret committee meetings for the oil and gas industry in Alberta has been going on since 2010 with Ottawa. Now,we all know how far Harper will go to protect this industry and there seems to be many jobs going to this province. If you look, other provinces aren't doing so well and I would think a PM would try to do something that works for the rest of the country. It's also safe to say, that in 2010, the Tories minority government, they wouldn't have the power to do things that they want within the gas and oil industry and the only way is, to get a majority in the May 2011. What a motive to do what ever it takes to get a majority and of course, I could be wrong, the Tories would never ever do anything "dirty", just something to think about. http://www.thestar.com/news/canada/politics/article/1144579--alberta-ottawa-oil-lobby-formed-secret-committee Quote
olpfan1 Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Is Harper going to finally be able to build a firewall around Alberta? Quote
fellowtraveller Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 I just got a registered letter that because I live in Alberta, I will get two votes next election. This was privately arranged by Redford and Harper. Quote The government should do something.

waldo Posted March 12, 2012 Report Posted March 12, 2012 Oh my! All those Harper Conservative accusations of subversion by environmental groups, of the improper influence of foreign charitable organizations... all going on while Harper Conservatives were working to undermine the supposed independence of the NEB process. And now this - say it ain't so!Alberta, Ottawa, oil lobby formed secret committee The federal and Alberta governments struck up a secret, high-level committee in early 2010 to coordinate the promotion of the oilsands with Canada’s most powerful industry lobby group , a document obtained through an access to information request reveals. The committee brought together the president of the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) with deputy ministers from Natural Resources, Environment Canada, Alberta Energy and Alberta Environment to synchronize their lobbying offensive in the face of mounting protest and looming international regulations targeting the Alberta crude. The revelation of the secret government-industry committee comes on the heels of an announcement that Environment Canada will try to “strengthen” cooperation with the oil sector by assigning a senior official to head up the newly formed Canadian Oil Sands Innovation Alliance, a partnership of a dozen major oilsands companies government... the advocacy arm of the oil industry! Damnit, where's the sanctity of the separation of oil and state! Quote

Topaz Posted March 13, 2012 Author Report Posted March 13, 2012 I just got a registered letter that because I live in Alberta, I will get two votes next election. This was privately arranged by Redford and Harper. Of course you do, one for provincial and one for federal, unless you are getting two for the province and two for federal, which in,tell us, would you vote twice in any election, if you thought you could get away with it, knowing that its illegal. Back to YOU. Quote
