Battletoads Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 3500 Vote separation as of right now. Come on Stantorum, we would be lost without the humour you provide. Quote "You can lead a Conservative to knowledge, but you can't make him think."
j44 Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 His political views are insane and will scare away millions of potential voters Yeah you said that. 3500 Vote separation as of right now. Come on Stantorum, we would be lost without the humour you provide. I would also like to see the spike in the sale of sweater vests if he wins the nomination. Quote

j44 Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 Romney still didn't have the showing he needed to shut his critics up and provide a KO to Santorum. I'm content with that. Quote

j44 Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 Not related to the GOP but since it happened on Super Tuesday...apparently Dennis Kucinich lost a primary battle tonight. From what I understand it was the result of redistricting. He's been around for a looong time and I think he was mayor of Cincinnati when he was like 30. He is also a strange little man. Quote
TheNewTeddy Posted March 7, 2012 Author Report Posted March 7, 2012 Obama also did poorly in the OK Primaries, and a few nutters who are challenging him will get a couple of delegates as a result. -TSS- Posted March 7, 2012 Report Posted March 7, 2012 I was surprised to find out that Obama also has to go through primaries even though it will be an easy task for him to win nomination. In fact, all incumbent Presidents seeking re-election have faced a challenge from within their party. However, almost every time the challengers have been attention-seeking lunatics rather than serious challengers. The President's party usually takes a very dim view of such challengers. The only time in a living memory when the President faced a serious challenge from his own party must have been in 1980 when Ted Kennedy challenged Jimmy Carter. Quote

Yes, but it will not be unanimous because of several challengers winning delegates. In fact, all incumbent Presidents seeking re-election have faced a challenge from within their party. However, almost every time the challengers have been attention-seeking lunatics rather than serious challengers. The President's party usually takes a very dim view of such challengers. This is not always the case. All such challengers are not "lunatics". The only time in a living memory when the President faced a serious challenge from his own party must have been in 1980 when Ted Kennedy challenged Jimmy Carter. No, the list is more extensive than that: from author Jay Wacker: 2008 No incumbent 2004 Bush faced no primary challenge and was reelected 2000 Gore (VP incumbent) faced Bill Bradley and was not elected 1996 Clinton faced Lyndon LaRouche and was reelected 1992 Bush faced Pat Buchanan and was not reelected 1988 Bush (VP) faced Bob Dole and was elected 1984 Reagan "faced" Harold Stassen and was reelected 1980 Carter faced Ted Kennedy and was not reelected 1976 Ford faced Ronald Reagan and was not reelected 1972 Nixon faced John Ashbrook and was reelected 1968 Johnson pulled out of primary against Humprhey (VP) who was not elected 1964 Johnson faced George Wallace and was elected 1960 Nixon (VP) faced Nelson Rockefeller and was not elected 1956 Eisenhower faced no primary challenge and was reelected 1952 Truman pulled out of primary, Barkley (VP) lost primary to Adlai Stevenson 1948 Truman faced Richard Russel and was elected 1944 Roosevelt faced no primary challenge and was reelected 1940 Roosevelt faced James Farley and was reelected Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
