The wasted $ moving, canceling energy generating plants, funding costly green energy sources that are cost prohibitive and not working

We now have a window as to how the McGuinty Liberals plan to address Ontario's deficit problem.

Gosh, I can't wait to hear the NDP's Horwath response to this. If McGuinty thinks that because he bought peace with the unions they will now play nice as a favour to him, he's more of an idiot than I thought.

That's a lot to mull over. I wonder how many medical procedures will be de-listed this time from our public health care coverage? So far, increasing the health care tax hasn't been mentioned but I fear that may be just around the corner.

It would have been nice for McGuinty to consult ordinary Ontarians for cost cutting ideas in advance of a budget. Instead he decided Drummond was the one who would find all the answers. I hope Drummond's other ideas are not as depressing as this.

Maybe it will work. I mean the NDP in NS have been plugging their budget hole by negotiating in a free and open with Unions and many have agreed to raises smaller then inflation to share in the sacrifice to balance the budget 0-1% in most cases even the teachers. Heck they have been cutting their debt faster then the CONSERVATIVES in NB and doing it in a transparent way.

 Thank you for your "sacrifice" unions.

Better than what the Conservatives are doing in NB period. The Minister for Seniors was on the news the other day looking way out of her league when a journalist was asking her about NB demographis and how the government plans to fund care for seniors. The problem in NB is that working-age people are leaving the province in droves, while people come back home to retire. So the journalist was asking her what the NBPC party's plans were and she sat there parroting the federal government's talking points about having more active seniors to prevent illness. This, of course, ignores the fact that chronic illnesses and mobility issues cannot be staved off indefinitely. In other words, their plan is to do nothing. The province, meanwhile, has one of the worst debts (if not the worst debt) in the entire nation. David Alward is also supporting the federal crime bill, which makes absolutely no sense coming from a province with no more money left to spend. Seriously, the problem is so bad that one of the Conservative cabinet ministers, who spent his life as a businessman, came right out and said that the problem is with democracy itself. That politicians continue to make electoral promises that they cannot deliver on and there's no way around it. Any politician that went out there, told the truth, and said there's no money left would not get elected. People vote for the party that's going to give them stuff. It's a disaster here.

Question and it may seem weird but is there any law that says that provinces HAVE to have prisons? IF not, why can't the provinces who can't afford the 1 billion$$ increases OUTSOURCE the prisoners to... say Alberta or Saskatchewan?

I've heard a few things coming down the line. Can't comment on specifics at this time.

They are running a "further right than Mike Harris" campaign against public unions which will unfold over the next year. Though, nothing may come of it at this point.

Ontario might be following in Wisconsin's shoes. It seems as though Dalton might be ramping up to do some union busting.

Ideology does not make good policy. Good policy comes from an analysis of options, comparison of options and selection of one option that works best in the current situation. This option is often a compromise between ideologies.
