As for the extremists at this convention they come in all colours, races, religions. They are all equally as disgusting and should be called out.

There are Jews and Christians like Muslims who use their religion as a pretext to justify violence. Let's not pretend its exclusive to Muslims or Arabs.

That said I criticize them all equally. This idea we can open our doors to anyone and everyone and accommodate them all is getting a harsh wake up call from those wishing to import their non Western values to our country. Its clashing and will continue to clash.

There is back lash against Muslims in Europe for the same reasons. Some equate the Muslims of Europe today to the plight of the Romas and Jews of pre WW2/holocaust.

They dress differently, have a different language and appear to have an allegiance to a God different than the Christian one.

Like the Romas and Jews many myths exist about Muslims and Arabs. So the analogy might have some semblance of similiarity in that no doubt moderate, democratic, hard working, honest, peace loving Muslims are all getting smeered by being lumped in with Muslim extremists.

That is why I think we need to be careful and point out these kinds of extremists who attract attention are a minority.

They do not represent other Muslims or Arabs, just themselves the same way the KKK followers do not represent all Christians or some wackpot extremist religious Jews on the Westbankor Ultra Orthodox Hews represent me or any other Jews.

I just watched the videos on racism in the tram......and it's the anger/resentment that's spilling all over that's so disturbing. So much anger.

You know, I think Canada has probably done a better job of absorbing and integrating its Muslim immigrants than any other country, and one of the reasons, I believe, is we haven't put in place the kind of politically correct, paternalistic bullshit laws and rules that much of Europe has. Not for want of trying by our Left, of course.

What the UK judge might as well have said is "Well, it's not like we can expect Somalian women to act like civilized White people, after all!" I'm sure he'd be outraged at my paraphrasing, but in essence, that is what he said, and what the decision meant.

As for the contemptible laws against freedom of speech and expression which Britain and France and other such European nations have put in place, we have seen how abused they can be, and how useless they are in combating racism or bigotry. Despite such laws being on the books for many year (or perhaps, in no small part because of them) Muslims in Britain and France are FAR less integrated, FAR more resentful and are disliked, feared and despised by the larger communities around them FAR more than in Canada.

Yet another example of how out to lunch, how utterly beyond the grasp of reality and human behaiour so much of the Left is.

I hope we don't end up like the UK. They've got certain places in the UK where-in women who don't wear hikabs are harrassed - doesn't matter whether you're Muslim or not - and it's been practically ignored by cops. there are certain places that Jews had to avoid. That's the scary part of multiculturalism. You end up with stark division, and whoever emerges to be most dominantly aggressive about it will prevail.

Some public protests in Canada (by Muslims) chanting death to Jews are acceptable behind the "freedom of speech"....and they wouldn't equate it to any hate speech! Yet you cannot publicly say anything against a particular group's lifestyle based upon your religious belief. Signs of cracks in our system are showing up. It's just a matter of time.

In this case the job of government is to ensure that immigrants assimilate into Western society as they come in. Whether than means slowing the pace or removing subsidies that allow the continuation of "their way of life" at our expense, it needs to be done. The productive, working majority cannot be expected to subsidize people who prefer to live alternative lifestyles that don't involve fitting into our society.

One way or another it just isn't going to happen, even if, as with the U.S. in the last election, people vote themselves a redistributionist candidate for President. That is why we're staring at a "fiscal cliff." One way or another ordinary, working people signal they've had enough.

And this nonsense that immigrants are subsidized by the "productive working majority" is pure rubbish. The immigrant employment rate is only a couple of percent higher than the employment rate for Canadians, and immigrants have accounted for the majority of new jobs created since 1990. A growing population is essential to maintaining a growth economy, and thats why virtually every group that has ever studied immigration from an economic perspective has recommended that levels be increased.
