GostHacked Posted December 9, 2011 Report Posted December 9, 2011 http://video.foxnews.com/v/1314932058001/update-on-cia-drone-in-iran http://video.foxnews.com/v/1316714358001/iran-releases-video-of-reported-downed-drone So what does this mean for the USA's drone fleet? Two senarios, the USA let it happen, to get some pretext on Iran, trying to provoke them into action so the USA can carpet bomb them into the stone age, or Iran did manage to hack into it and land it safely. Wonder how this is going to play out. I do think that the USA or Israel will make an attack to make the drone disappear. The more technology is used, the more of these kinds of things we are going to see. The USA knew their drone fleet was compromised http://www.techrepublic.com/blog/security/us-drones-under-attack-from-virus/6737 According to WIRED News, America’s fleet of Predator and Reaper drones have been hit by a computer virus that logs pilots’ every keystroke. While a source familiar with the infection, which was discovered several weeks ago, says the virus is considered “benign,” network security specialists can’t seem to wipe it from the computers at Creech Air Force Base in Nevada. It is unclear exactly how the keylogger came to reside on the drones’ systems, whether it was intentional or accidental. There is the possibility that it’s just a common piece of malware that “just happened” to find its way into the systems. Wired blogger Noah Shachtman says the virus is believed to have spread through removable drives, which Predator and Reaper crews use to load map updates and transport mission videos from one computer to another. Regardless, it has been resistant to numerous attempts to remove it. It also is unclear just how far the virus has spread, although it is certain that it has infiltrated both classified and unclassified machines at Creech, raising the possibility that secret data may have been captured and leaked to someone outside the military chain of command. However, the virus is not keeping the drones grounded, reports Reuters, as they continue to fly remote missions overseas. http://defensetech.org/2011/10/08/air-force-uav-controls-infected-with-virus/ I’m sure you’ve all heard this, but just in case you haven’t, the Internet is abuzz with reports that the Air Force’s UAV ground control systems (GCS) at Creech Air Force Base, Nev., have been infected by a computer virus. The virus, that’s apparently recording drone operators’ keystrokes, was detected about two weeks ago. While it hasn’t prevented the service from flying UAV missions, it has proven to be difficult to remove — Air Force technicians are having to completely wipe the GCS’ internal hard drives to get rid of the virus. Service officials still aren’t 100 percent sure how it penetrated Creech’s firewalls nor do they know where it came from. It may be a run of the mill computer virus that somehow made its way into the base’s systems or it may be a sophisticated cyber espionage tool specifically targeting the U.S.’ drone program — no one knows yet. The cyberwar (could be classified as a new WWIII or something) is already well under way. Can we expect another stuxnet? And why are all of Iran's nuclear sites getting smoked recently? The media is saying 'hmm what's up?' and government officials are saying 'we are not sure durrr!?' Iran is already under attack, there is just no official declaration of war on Iran by those suspected of causing hell in Iran. CIA has already been caught causing hell in Iran recently. Three sensitive nuclear research sites in Iran that housed the Iranian Elite Guard, have been demolished 'somehow' over the past few months. Of course nothing suspicious there at all. Whoever is running this show is not waiting for any UN resolution or sanctions, they are simply attacking Iran as we speak. Quote

Guest Derek L Posted December 10, 2011 Report Posted December 10, 2011 So what does this mean for the USA's drone fleet? Two senarios, the USA let it happen, to get some pretext on Iran, trying to provoke them into action so the USA can carpet bomb them into the stone age, or Iran did manage to hack into it and land it safely. Wonder how this is going to play out. I do think that the USA or Israel will make an attack to make the drone disappear. The more technology is used, the more of these kinds of things we are going to see. The USA knew their drone fleet was compromised It means several possible things……..First possible scenario there was human error and/or a malfunction with the drone itself………..I still doubt the Iranians got it fully intact, and I base my opinion on two things, first the wing roots from the pictures don’t look to be in their “natural state” and why are there no pictures of the rear of the drone and why is the undercarriage “covered-up”? I don’t doubt one crashed in Iran, and they have the remains, I tend to think they either put the remains back together quick for the photo-op or they have a mock-up……. Second possibility, the encryption control links were hacked/compromised for this individual UAV…….there will be different codes for each individual UAV and for the various fleets….this is made evident by the fact the CIA/USAF/USN etc UAVs aren’t dropping from the sky all over the globe…..Instead of the proverbial “magic bullet”, they got the “magic hack”………..I envision some 17 year old Iranian boy, with cans of Red Bull and a bag of Doritos, doing this well playing wizards of warcraft……. Third possibility, which could be in concert with the second (And I feel was necessary for the second to have taken place), the Americans have another John Walker………. Fourth possibility: Quote

GostHacked Posted December 10, 2011 Author Report Posted December 10, 2011 You don't think attacks like this count as an act of war? Maybe you perfer 'kenetic military action' over war? Get your lols in while you can. A new war is being fought but this one is not as visible. Quote
