I love how SUN News says that members of Ford's "allies" are spineless for listening to their constituents.

It remains completely impossible to take these idiots seriously when they whinge about spending on "non-priority" items like libraries and the arts while their hero is essentially throwing more than a $8 billion in Ontario taxpayer dollars into a hole in the ground on Eglington, spending tens of thousands of dollars to remove a bike lane on Jarvis for no good reason, throwing a massive pay hike to the cops while other departments scrounge for savings etc etc etc.

You must have heard that passive aggressive quote by Josh Matilow.

Sorry Josh Matlow.

One of those "mighty" middle councillors that Ford was talking about.

He acted all butthurt and said that Ford should open a history book to find out who "Joe Stalin" was.

Brutally scathing critique of Ford:

Despite those all-nighters last year, Ford is a poor listener. Worse still, he isn’t the least bit curious about the larger world, let alone Toronto. His ideas are strongly held but barely formed.

Because he’s incapable of understanding others, Ford has found it hard to be a consensus-builder, which, in a weak-mayor system like Toronto’s, is critical.

Even more amateur-hour childish garbage out of the Ford camp.

Councillor Mike Del Grande, Mayor Rob Ford’s budget chief, says he does not actually support the incendiary housing proposal he made last week.

Why, then, did he make it? Strictly to anger council’s lefties, he told the Toronto Sun

So, Ford isn't responding to receiving lobby funds now..

Leiper was unsatisfied. “I wrote to Mayor Ford to confirm his obligation to obey council’s decision,” she wrote. “I advised Mayor Ford that asking lobbyist-donors for the additional favour of forgiving repayment could amount to a breach of the Lobbyist Code of Conduct.” Ford has not responded.

Leiper found that 11 lobbyists or clients of lobbyists donated a total of $3,150 to the Rob Ford Football Foundation, which funds school football programs, between August 2009 and May 2010. Council agreed with Leiper’s finding that Ford improperly solicited donations from lobbyists and improperly used his influence by making appeals for donations on his official city letterhead.

The man has no ethics. He thinks smoke and mirrors like turning down the cost-of-living raise is going to make him ethical. There was already questions about his campaign signage and business cards. This guy has nothing but contempt for democracy. He thinks as mayor he's supreme leader of Toronto and can do whatever the hell he wants. It's because of people like him that there are limits to the mayor's power in Toronto. Thankfully too. I'm sure he wouldn't want some "socialist scum" being mayor and wielding the kind of power he wants to pretend he has.

Are you implying he pocketed this money otherwise I don't see any problem trying to raise funds for your foundation even if you're using your status as mayor to help.

I don't see any problem trying to raise funds ... using your status as mayor to help.

Of course you don't. It doesn't matter when the guys you support break the law. I guess the only laws that matter are the ones you agree with at any given moment. Edited by cybercoma

How's this going to work against Ford in an upcoming election campaign.

Rob Ford. . . he solicited illegal donations . . . For his charity!

Damn the guy must be the spawn of Satan.

So it's ok to do illegal things as long as you get re-elected? Does that mean the mayor of Toronto is above the law?

Well what's the potential punishment for this crime? Jail time? Fines? Getting demonized by people that already hate his guts?

I'm sure he'll get over it. And if it comes to it I'm sure he'll repay the donations. But the story indicated that the donors don't even want the money back.

Perhaps he'll donate the equal sum he received another charity to make himself look even more unethical.

So if I obtain money illegally, it's ok with you as long as I give it back when I'm caught?

Well that's what's being asked of Ford here. The lady wants confirmation that the donations were paid back. What's making this newsworthy, I suppose, is that Ford is ignoring the requests to pay the money back.

So what recourse does the lady have? I'm curious, I don't know.

It's not a criminal offense, I don't think, So I can only see a fine as the potential punishment.
