Then again, is Dick Cheney as guilty as Fidel Castro of war crimes/crimes against humanity? To his credit, Cheney voluntarily gave up power. By all accounts, some 50 years later, Fidel still hasn't done that.

Following your logic, if Hitler in 1943 visited Vancouver to sell his autobiography, we should have arrested him. And since Hitler didn't visit, we should have arrested the German ambassador instead! (Was there a German ambassador in Ottawa in 1943? Does Google go back that far?)

I do! The entire country was in mourning for a very long time. Everyone wore black, the funerary bunting was displayed from all balconies from Nepean to Stittsville. There was much hang wringing, gashing of teeth, broken hearts and a questioning of our deepest national values. Oh, woe, what a terrible time when "Canada" was shunned and all of "Canada" was in a spiral of grief at the indignancy over it all!
