guyser Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 I disagree.. They will remember him... As the guy who tried to reprimand Atwood by using the word "libary".... Probably I wonder if he says "punkin" and pisgetti"? No , just "more please" Quote
Shady Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 Margaret Atwood is a moron. Didn't she call Stephen Harper a nazi not that long ago? Toronto has more than enough libraries. Most of which are vastly under-used by the community. She needs to STFU and write a book or something. Quote
bloodyminded Posted July 28, 2011 Report Posted July 28, 2011 She needs to STFU and write a book or something. Ah, we've got another one! Supporting the leaders is fine...then a person should speak his mind. But criticizing him??? There's no place for that kind of behaviour in a country like Canada; so critics should all "STFU." That Atwood has some friggin' nerve, I tells ya! Quote As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand. --Josh Billings
Shwa Posted July 28, 2011 Author Report Posted July 28, 2011 Supporting the leaders is fine...then a person should speak his mind. I like the metre of that line. It has a rhythymic quality in time. Some people could goose-step to it. Quote

August1991 Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 Don't think I have ever said this to a respected poster here.....but you have got to be f'in kidding me !Um, in 10 years, no one will know who Doug Ford is, Atwood will still be reknowned. Have you ever heard of Arnold Bennett (for example)? But I bet you used a zipper today. --- My point is that once famous writers frequently become unknown. In fact, it can happen very quickly. And their stories, ideas disappear just as quickly. I see nothing of Tolstoi or Shakespeare in any writing of Atwood but the future will judge her writing. But sometimes a seemingly anonymous person makes a decision that changes the lives of ordinary people far into the future. Quote

CANADIEN Posted July 29, 2011 Report Posted July 29, 2011 Shady's ok with criticizing leaders as long as their names are Barack Obama. Mind you, replace Harper with Obama, and Nazi with `Communist or Socialist, and suddenly Shady has (for once) an excellant suggestion. Quote

She's well read , unlike some ...er...umm.... With an estimated 17.5 million visitors annually, it is also the busiest public library system in the world. Established as the library of the Mechanics' Institute in 1830, the Toronto Public Library now consists of 99 branch libraries and has over 11 million items in its collection. Oleg Bach Posted July 30, 2011 Report Posted July 30, 2011 Libraries are not just about books - they are computer centres for those that can not afford them - they are training centres for the unemployed...and above all they are centers were the marginalized gather and at least attempt to rise up out of the mud.
