Recently a public fugure was describing an event he attended. This man commented though the electronic media that there were a lot of "hot chicks" present. He soon found himself under the thumb of secularist fanatics who forced him to "apologize" for his dreadful sin - They under the threat of total personal and profession ruin...made the man grovel like a kicked dog and retract a normal comment - his sin was that of using SLANG.

let me translate the slang term "hot chicks". I believe it would mean BEAUTIFUL WOMAN. For refering to females as beautiful instead of smart - or independent - or powerful..the poor guy was made to get down on his hands and knees and beg for mercy. Political correctness seems to be some sort of submission to the secular humanists who believe they are god like and all powerful.

It was a mistake for this man to grovel. He should have stood his ground and said that he did nothing wrong, hurtful or damaging to any one. He should have refused to submit to the mindless idea that onces mouth must be partially sewn shut and only certain types of communication should be allowed to leak out.

IF he had said that there were many handsome gay men present I am sure they would have given him a prize - Or if he would have said, The woman present were plain janes...he would have been given the axe - You just can't win with these people - time to stand your ground and ask your self - did I commit a social sin or not - if the answer is NOT - then do NOT - submit to this foolishness. It is not the granting of individual freedom - It is the taking away of individual freedom - similar to the spectre that is the submission to Islam - Maybe he should have said " I be the woman under the berkas are beautiful - or maybe even HOT! I suppose they would have pounced on him for that.

IF he had said...and did not use slang...that the event had many beautiful woman in attendence....the ugly woman would have brought out their feminist eccetric fire power and blasted the guy - while the hot chicks.............sorry ....beautiful woman would glow in appreciation....Now I bet the person that brought about the complaint was NOT a "hot chick"...lol

It's politics - you do know that ? Appearances are everything, for good or bad. It's the same public consciousness that drives leaders into church regularly though they may not believe, or to project themselves as pro-military. Democracy + mass media makes our leaders into branded products so they can't just be themselves.

It's the same public consciousness that drives leaders into church regularly though they may not believe, or to project themselves as pro-military. So there is a correct way to conduct your self in public life and a not so correct way? This makes me wonder about the rules of the game. If the rules are such that a person can not be a human being....can not be "themselves" - then what do they become? Eventually by the submission to the over load of rules one becomes a person without any real rules or principles. They become a pandering figure that is swayed by rule by poll for instance.

In eccense the "leader" leads by following the mass. I know a banker like this who states " I lead by following " ...This stikes me as weird..It would be like a father following around a bunch of kids who start to dabble in the dog poop at the park. Or a group of young boys who in great glee pull the wings of flys and satisfy the most primative instictive lusts, while if the father objects he is pulled before a committee and trounced for not going along with what has become the norm. The father may as well resign his postion because under such a system of collective rule he is powerful - and the concept of leadership becomes null and void!

Funny how you mention "branded products" when describing our leaders. The old buisness man I mention specializes in branding...so what it gets down to is some quiet elite who looks upon us like private cows on a ranch that they herd about using the tool of public insecurity and political correctness - to maintain a privleded status quo....put plainly - some one is jerking our chain and debasing the population into a mode that serves a few and dupes the many...great....just great - welcome to the great tacit dictatorship where we lead by following...herdsmanship!

It's actually quite ironic.

The same people who would find this comment horrifying would be the same people that would walk during the recent "slut walks" I'm sure.

Nicely percieved. Every body wants to be a big shot - so we look at ways to deminish others...Ghandi said - It is a small person who seeks his own self empowerment though the dis-empowerment of others" - to para phrase....It is as if the politically correct policed actually believe with the more convictions they get the more powerful they become..when acutally the become more hated - and to be a potential leader or leader --- to be secretly hated is the political kiss of death.

Why not post an actual article describing what happened, Oleg?

Toronto Coun. John Parker has apologized for making a controversial post on Twitter that included the phrase “hot chicks.”

“Delighted and honoured to help unveil eight new Toronto heritage plaques and meet hot chicks in the bargain. I love my job," Parker, who represents Don Valley West, tweeted Monday.

The comment came after he attended a Heritage Toronto event Monday morning on behalf of council that unveiled plaques honouring some of the city’s notable past citizens.

The councillor, whose tweets often show a wry sense of humour, quickly deleted his comment from the social networking site Monday afternoon after a Toronto Star reporter inquired about it.

But Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was not impressed with Parker's comment and said that he'd speak to the councillor about it. Parker said he and the mayor swapped messages and that Ford was aware he’d be apologizing publicly Tuesday.

“I understand that my comment that was meant all in good fun and good humour has caused offence and I’m unhappy with that,” Parker told CityNews’ Avery Haines. “So if apologizing can help the situation I’m more than happy to apologize for what was an unwise remark.”

After apologizing, Parker called the incident regrettable, and said it was unfortunate that his comments took away from the importance of the Heritage Toronto ceremony.

“I’m sorry anything I did changed the channel on that,” he said.

He added that most of the calls he has received about the matter have been from people wondering what all the fuss is about.

Some colleagues agreed.

Ok let's flip this a bit: You are a married businessman, a communications/public relations professional representing your company at a public event in a community where you want to do business. Later you tweet to the world including the media that you particularly enjoyed it because of the "hot chicks" there.

Would your boss or the shareholders be impressed? How bout your wife? Would you still have a job?

Would any businessman be that stupid?

It's not much of an issue..but thanks for showing us that this thread came from something more than a drug-induced hallucination.

I am not technically adapted that way - I hear a news report and give my view - sometimes I do not remember the names of the individuals involved - But because it is current stuff I sort of expect some of our members to be up on it and recognize the subject. All I know is I saw this public figure who attended some event - have to apologize for tweeting "There were a lot of hot chicks there - the fact that he use this slang got him in trouble -- The way they made him grovel was more distasteful thatn any percieved disrespect for woman -

Guess this guy was not very literate or well spoken - or classy for that matter - all he had to say is it was a great event and he really enjoyed the company of all the beautiful and "smart" woman that were in attendence - a little pandering to the feminist eccentrics with the flattering word "smart" would have smoothed it over....It's evident that you have to tell people what they want to hear - Most woman want to be more than hot - unless they are strippers or hookers...I suppose.

Depends on the business. It might meet with approval if you were opening a Hooter's restaurant.

Basically, you have to use common sense. In the political realm you need to set an example so perhaps this statement wasn't the best example of behavior, it being a position of leadership. He was being a "person" on his twitter account and not a "politician". Sort of like a teacher being a student's friend instead of being a teacher and thinking that it will improve his ability to reach the student - then he forgets he is a teacher - and friends never let friends fail - so students are never failed. It's about connecting with the people you are involved with. You should not forget who you are or what your position is. This politician just forgot for a moment he was a poltician and is being reprimanded for it. It's hard to remind teacher's they are teacher's since they have become friends first, but being friendly (social behavior) is what they are teaching. We need to be friends with everyone - now that is common sense!! Hmmmm...well...maybe not???? "Hot chicks", although being friendly excludes some chicks, so is discriminatory and thus unfriendly. It sounds to me like this politician's teachers were very friendly and he passed friendly with flying colours. Unfortunately, he falls short on leadership.

You are NOT communicating with a full scale human being with human reactions...When you tweet - or post or chat - You are dealing with a thing that is part human and part computer..This bio-machine can be cruel and reckless...."friends" on line are NOT real friends - if they were real they would come and see you personally - For this guy to tweet and trust a machine was a mistake - the machine clamped down on his fingers.

They were his audience and they follow him, some are friends, some may not be. Like in real life you can't tell sometimes.

You can always tell in the real world when you look a person in the eye if they are friend or foe or indifferent.

He's a politician at an official function, tweeting to us fools that elected him. We were paying him while he ogled the hot chicks and tweeted to us about it.

It's a slippery slope he's on. Soon he'll be tweeting us his peter too . . . The second politician peter tweeter. :-)

Still - hot chicks is not an insult - to have him grovel because he is a hetorsexual is not acceptable.

He's grovelling because he's a politician and belatedly realized that he wants to keep his paycheque.

What he does on his own time is his problem. What he does on our dime is our concern. We are the boss.

It's not about his gender or sexual orientation. It's about unprofessional behaviour and clearly his constituents disagree with you and it's their call.

If you want to hire him to ogle hot chicks and tweet you about them, go ahead, but the taxpayers don't.

If you are looking for maligned hetero poster boys, I suggest you look elsewhere.

My concurance is with you. Look at that silly guy John Tory - he had the same problem...the sexual sophistication and maturity of a twelve year old British school boy - You are correct - If you are going to be in public life - You have to behave like a man ---or a woman...not a girl or a boy.
