Say a person is capable of gardening - and has a great love for plants - and that person creates a heavenly spot where he can sit and be at peace and enjoy what his ablity has created. Is it correct that the grower of the beautiful garden should be ousted from his home made heaven and the area be turned into a public park? Where those that can not grow or maintain beauty can sit and enjoy - yet the garden desolves and becomes a vacant and ugly lot in time. Capitalism is not just about money - it is also when done well about stewardship....funny - when communists take over the first thing they do is kill the gardener the "intelligencia" ....and odd how all socialist places have that grey utlitarian sovient style uglyness. This just might be a battle between beauty and utlity. Quote
bjre Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 The capitalist creed is "There is no free lunch" The author was not seeking free lunch: My introduction to the real American nightmare starts back in the early ‘80s. Unfortunately after more than 16 years of school, somewhere along the line I picked up the absurd, pompous notion that I could read and understand plain English. Some friends introduced me to a group of people who were having ‘tax code’ readings and discussions. In particular, zeroed in on a section relating to the wonderful “exemptions” that make institutions like the vulgar, corrupt Catholic Church so incredibly wealthy. We carefully studied the law (with the help of some of the “best”, high-paid, experienced tax lawyers in the business), and then began to do exactly what the “big boys” were doing (except that we weren’t steeling from our congregation or lying to the government about our massive profits in the name of God). We took a great deal of care to make it all visible, following all of the rules, exactly the way the law said it was to be done. The intent of this exercise and our efforts was to bring about a much-needed re-evaluation of the laws that allow the monsters of organized religion to make such a mockery of people who earn an honest living. However, this is where I learned that there are two “interpretations” for every law; one for the very rich, and one for the rest of us… Oh, and the monsters are the very ones making and enforcing the laws; the inquisition is still alive and well today in this country. That little lesson in patriotism cost me $40,000+, 10 years of my life, and set my retirement plans back to 0. It made me realize for the first time that I live in a country with an ideology that is based on a total and complete lie. It also made me realize, not only how naive I had been, but also the incredible stupidity of the American public; that they buy, hook, line, and sinker, the crap about their “freedom”… and that they continue to do so with eyes closed in the face of overwhelming evidence and all that keeps happening in front of them. Before even having to make a shaky recovery from the sting of the first lesson on what justice really means in this country (around 1984 after making my way through engineering school and still another five years of “paying my dues”), I felt I finally had to take a chance of launching my dream of becoming an independent engineer. On the subjects of engineers and dreams of independence, I should digress somewhat to say that I’m sure that I inherited the fascination for creative problem solving from my father. I realized this at a very young age. The significance of independence, however, came much later during my early years of college; at the age of 18 or 19 when I was living on my own as student in an apartment in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. My neighbor was an elderly retired woman (80+ seemed ancient to me at that age) who was the widowed wife of a retired steel worker. Her husband had worked all his life in the steel mills of central Pennsylvania with promises from big business and the union that, for his 30 years of service, he would have a pension and medical care to look forward to in his retirement. Instead he was one of the thousands who got nothing because the incompetent mill management and corrupt union (not to mention the government) raided their pension funds and stole their retirement. All she had was social security to live on. Oleg Bach Posted June 22, 2011 Author Report Posted June 22, 2011 Having worked in the past on major motion picture projects - I did get a fee lunch...and mighty fine food it was...only because my UNION - actra ---- forced the producers to treat us with equality. At the same time liberal greed kicked in and Shelia Copps insisted that the American production companies pay her a cut - This governmental greed had the effect of running the Americans out of town - and along with them went billions of potential earnings for Canadians - so both sides - the left and the right if they do not use common sense can screw up a good thing. bjre Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 (edited) so both sides - the left and the right if they do not use common sense can screw up a good thing. The reason for this is the system of democracy. The Nature of democracy is fight for oneself. If you don't fight for yourself when others fight for themselves, you will be robbed. That is what reinforce selfishness. The result is inevitable most people be robbed by a small amount of greed, smart, evil ones. The democracy system can not solve this problem. Only when most people be educated from kids to be able to think of others and ready to help others can make some positive change to this evilness. But when teachers are the same selfish and with the exist of CAS and related laws, this would not happen. mikedavid00 Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Well in my opinion, we already live in a socialist country and already practice socialism. It's just done in a 'less direct' manor though. We have communist hospitals here, in my province I have to go to a communist beer store to get beer. I am not allowed to become an electrician. The gov't decides who, how, and when someone gets a license. Half of my money gets taken away from me involuntarily or I will lose my property at gun point and go to jail. It goes into the pockets of the communist 'red coats' (civil servants). I am told how I must act and behave for the 'social good'. I can't go to a stream and go fishing without checking with our communist fishing authority saying where I can and can't fish. This is for the social good. I can't go into a corner store and buy a damn can of beer in order to preserve the 'social good' of our society. I am not allowed to grow weed in the privacy of my OWN house (not that I want to but just an example) in order to protect the social commune. I am not allowed to buy a pellet gun, take it home, and shoot that pesty squirrel that's been chewing off branches from my tree. This is for the 'public good'. The commune. Big Brother tells me how to behave in the public good. Just like Big Brother here on the site just recently banned me AGAIN for 2 weeks for something that I can't even remember what I did. I am not allowed to take a cow, milk it, and simply sell the milk to my neighbor unless I go through the communist, red coat, milk cartel. If I don't, I will be arrested and gun point and thrown in jail and lose my property. Just like in the Red Soviet Union. I am not allowed to open a small burger joint, without big brother inspecting the property multiple times, telling me how to do it, how to design my ventilation and seating plans, setting up a million paper processes, and then driving my startup capital so high, that it's no longer feasible to open a mom and pop restaurant and have it survive. Similar to Russia and Cuba. You could own a private business, but they really frowned upon that kind of initiative and set so many rules in the way, you wouldn't open up shop. I could go on and on but you get the point. We live in a full blown socialist society in my opinion where everything is regulated. Your pay, your life, who your neighbor will be, what you are allowed to do. Etc. The thing that people don't understand or realize, is something called the 'police state'. We are already socialist, but the 'police state' isn't here yet. The last decade saw major strides in the police state and it's growing and growing. With all the rules come enforcement. Lot's of it. We are at the point now where if you try to drop a line and go fishing, big brother will be there to harras you and ticket you. They'll find something to get you on. We're at the point that every one of us on the forum is in some sort of 'violation' or 'breaking a law' in our home. You see, the gov't has legislated all of us into criminals or in violation of this or that. When this happens, it justifies a police state. Enforcement. THEN you will see how much like Russia we really are. You will see how the gov't controls of all of us and it will be clear that we're in a police state. Speeding cameras, red light cameras, helicopters with infrared detection flying over homes to see if someone is growing weed in their house. Police on the side of the street hiding in bushes in known 'under posted' speed zones so they can make criminals out of law abiding citizens who are simply trying to get to work. Park rangers inspecting your cooler at a camp sight and ticketing you when they find some beer and making your spill it out. Getting stopped on your boat and your whole boat being inspected for a few cans of beer and then asked for your boating license. You were just trying to enjoy your own land and waters and are getting harassed and shaken down. This never happened in the old days. Why so much now? The police state is coming. Mark my words it's slow, but with more of our decline, you will see an increase of the police state. More laws regulating how we are to live. Where we are to work. And what we are allowed to say. Even here on the forums we have people like Michael Harder who does nothing but patrol the forums and report people when he happens to dislike anything they say. He is policing the forums and taking away speech. He and Anthony determine what we are allowed to say like little children. Socialism? It's been here for a long time. The Police State? It's coming and happening slowly before your eyes. From all levels of gov't, down to this forum. It's an attitude. A way of being. The Police State of Canada. Quote ---- Charles Anthony banned me for 30 days on April 28 for 'obnoxious libel' when I suggested Jack Layton took part in illegal activities in a message parlor. Claiming a politician took part in illegal activity is not rightful cause for banning and is what is discussed here almost daily in one capacity or another. Oleg Bach Posted June 23, 2011 Author Report Posted June 23, 2011 Socialism.. it's so scary.. "..each worker in a socialist society receives wages and benefits according to the quantity and value of the labor that he or she contributed. This translates into workers of high productivity receiving more wages and benefits than workers of average productivity, and substantially more than workers of low productivity. An extension of this principle could also be made so that the more difficult one's job is—whether this difficulty is derived from greater training requirements, job intensity, safety hazards, etc.—the more one is rewarded for the labor contributed." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/To_each_according_to_his_contribution BONUS! Will be provided...that is key for socialist work well done! My dad witnessed the soviet 5 year plan - which was an utter failure. Men were told if they plowed a few extra acres per day they would get extra cash. So a trend started. Instead of putting the plow depth to one foot - they cheated and put it to six inches so there would be less drag and they could go faster and appear to produce more -crops failed. The human factor plays a great part in these hair brained schemes. Human nature has it without the guide lines of real moral thought...things fall apart. It amazes me that people actually still cling to the ideas of communal living - or communism. It is a brutal system in the fact that it attemps to embrace utlity rather than beauty and individuality. It is also a form of living that misses the mark of what real socialism was about - The original socialist was Jesus - the KING of Judea. He allowed for free will to take place...to give of ones own accord to the needy - it was truely charitable....Then things went bad when "Saint" Peter attempted to take over - he though threats and coersion FORCED people to sell property and put the funds into a common purse...he became a ganster and threatened an old couple who he believed were not giving the church ALL the money form their land sale - He struck the man dead...and threatened to do the same to his old wife. Imagine the effect this had on the village - they were terrified - Socialism always breeds a monster who practices terrorism in the end...instead of equality a tyrant will rise and dominate and terrorize... How can people of the modern age embrace such a sytem that in the end is always murderous? Quote
Oleg Bach Posted June 23, 2011 Author Report Posted June 23, 2011 You might be rewarded for your labour - but you will not be rewarded for your god given genetic gifts - for being intelligent or creative. In fact if you are intelligent you will be considered a threat to the state. BECAUSE under socialism we must all pretent to be equal in mind not just body. I sat with an employment counselor...a welfare worker who was getting real frustrated with me because I would not participate or "volunteer" my services at a local city vegetable garden project.....She proclaimed to me in a loud voice regarding her political stripes ....."I AM A SOCIALIST" - she was not just a socilist social workker but her other job was that of prison guard. This particular woman also said regarding my "elite" attitude...."I have given up on you!" - thank god for that! I can imagine if she had dictatorial power what would have happened to me - she would have shifted me from the welfare role - to the role of disident inmate. Ok some of you will say that I must be a socialist because I am on the dole...My problem started when I sued the government and was swarmed by socialist judges - lawyers - henchmen....and in the end - some Troskite Supreme Court Judges....so seeing they screwed me for daring to confront them - and yes I was warned that I would pay the price for my little rebelion ....the socialist started to garnishee 100% of my pay checks ..............so I stopped working and incrimentally started to take my money back though their damned welfare system. They really don't like me much for mastering their system - It is like a cake reciepe...you put exactly what the socialist buracracy wants in the machine - and the results is guarenteed. Quote
PIK Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 You seem to have a thing about unions, so can you tell me how safe is your job? If you work in a non-union job, who do you think would be there to, at least , to try to save your job, a union or the government? Many people have lost jobs because of unions. And being a small business ower, it is always us and the elderly and rural folks that have to suffer when unions don't get thier way. People are suffering especially small business and now we have the posties whining for more. Don't they realize how good they have it, should they be made to work somewhere else for a month to get them to realize how good they have it. I have no money coming in ,so no money is going out, and that effects the whole economy, and we have to suffer thru more shit because of a bunch of spoiled ,underworked overpaid union workers. And I will say it is mainly goverment unions that are the worst, some unions have done some great work in helping people in other areas. And now that we have these same unions supporting the canadian ship to gaza, what type of shit is that. That right there should be illegal for unions to get involved in politics and world affairs. And I understand we will be paying for teachers to campaign for the libs or dippers, because they are still not happy with a 24% increasein pay in the last 8 years they recieved from dalton, whose wife happens to be a teacher.. And one more thing, greece! Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.

MiddleClassCentrist Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 .The old commie faction of the NDP refuse to give up the title of socialism. They are so proud of their roots and ideals that they actually believe that this is the best form of government world wide - even though communism has murdered more people than any other ideology. It is rather scarey to think of what Jack Layton really thinks and what he would do if he gained total power. Firstly I can not get over that fact that he does not tell the truth and that his wife lied on his behalf..."It was a licenced therepudic massage clinic" to para phrase Oliva Chow. I hope someone pointed out that you are spewing typical ignorant Conservative propaganda. Those 'communist' countries were actually totalitarian states... There is a difference. Educate yourself. Quote Ideology does not make good policy. Good policy comes from an analysis of options, comparison of options and selection of one option that works best in the current situation. This option is often a compromise between ideologies.
dre Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 Yes it's a nice theory that has proven to be deeply flawed. Of course. All pure political ideologies are deeply flawed. Theyre interest topics for academics to beat about in universities etc, but in practice the only thing thats ever worked very well are systems that mix different parts of them together and are able to strike some kind of balance. bloodyminded Posted June 25, 2011 Report Posted June 25, 2011 That's huge part of it. Their attack on the Jewish was motivated by jealousy and greed. Many Jews were successful and wealthy. The Nazis, dull-witted cave men, were neither. The Jews had what they wanted so, being dyed-in-the-wool socialists, they took by force and thought they left no witnesses. But their deep-rooted conservatism, which was at the core of Nazi-ism, doesn't bother you at all. I'm waiting for the "Islamist fundamentalists are lefty socialists" revision to begin any time now.
