scribblet Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 What drives people to such hate which drives them to make such inappropriate comments. Okay, he doesn't like her politics but this really does put a the [name here] derangement syndrome to a new level. In an appearance on Monday’s “The Adam Carolla Show” podcast, Titus may have waded into that territory. In responding to a question about former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” in which Palin defended her interpretation of what happened during Paul Revere’s pre-Revolutionary War famous ride, Titus launched into a description of what he would do if Palin were elected. “You know what man?” Titus said. “I am going to literally — if she gets elected president, I am going to hang out on the grassy knoll all the time, just loaded and ready — because you know what? It’s for my country. It’s for my country. If I got to sacrifice myself, it’s for my country.” Read more: http://dailycaller.com/2011/06/07/comic-chris-titus-hints-at-assassinating-palin-if-she-gets-elected-president/#ixzz1OhjJyrfk Quote Hey Ho - Ontario Liberals Have to Go - Fight Wynne - save our province
GostHacked Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Chris Titus is a COMEDIAN. He was on another COMEDIAN's show doing COMEDY. But since Palin is such a joke herself, she should have been on the show as well. Quote

GostHacked Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 I don't see how being a comedian excuses someone from making threats ! I don't get how this is even news. Compared to some of the other shit going on around the world. Banks stealing from everyone. Financial meltdowns/austerity across the globe. Nuclear radiation. Government violating peoples rights. Storms and floods wiping out farmland all over N.A. More wars initiated by the UN/NATO. African and Middle East uprisings ......... But a comedian who makes a joke about offing Palin gets people's attention? Really? Quote

Shady Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 I don't get how this is even news. Compared to some of the other shit going on around the world. Nice false choice. Political assassination jokes are never a good thing. No matter who the politician. GH is a complete hack for defending this type of behavior. Quote
guyser Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Yes I suppose Its much funnier when FOX News makes the joke about 'offing Obama'. At least one is a comedian and is expected to be tasteless. Not sure about the other one. Quote

In case people missed it, here's a Fox News clip joking about killing Obama: Yes, we'd kill Osama and Obama if only we could. And this is a news caster - who evidently thinks she's a comedienne. BubberMiley Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 Good Lord. Not with the "deranged syndrome" again. I guess the moral to this story is it's never very funny, but scriblett only starts threads about it if it involves right-wingers getting threats. I wonder why that is. GostHacked Posted June 8, 2011 Report Posted June 8, 2011 If I made a 'joke' about 'offing' you, I imagine you wouldn't like it much. So Titus made a 'joke'? Are you implying he was actually serious about it offing Palin? Quote

GH is a complete hack for defending this type of behavior. I am a hack (part of the name I guess). But I'd rather be a hack, than shady. And yes I am defending a comedian's work. There was a Pastor Steven's from some years ago calling for Obama's death. Did we spend much time on that Shady? Now Pastors are not comedians, and you'd expect a comedian to say shit like that .. but a pastor?? Oh wait, pastors DO do that kind of thing. Quote

If I didn't do so for Dubya (or in Canada's case, Trudeau), I wouldn't do so for Palin either. Quote I have captured the rare duct taped platypus.

Shady Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Right, death threats against Palin - Bad. Death threats against Obama - Good. Is that how you roll shady? Nope. As I've already stated twice, they're both wrong. And as I've already stated twice, I've never heard of the other example. And I only know about this comedian because of the post in this forum. So I'm not sure where the so-called hypocrisy comes from. Both cases are bad form. I don't condone either one. You apparently do. So if anything. You're the hypocrite. Regardless, I found your initial attempt of a false choice worst of all. It was pretty lame. Quote

Pliny Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 Good Lord. Not with the "deranged syndrome" again. In case people missed it, here's a Fox News clip joking about killing Obama: Yes, we'd kill Osama and Obama if only we could. And this is a news caster - who evidently thinks she's a comedienne. I don't think Titus was funny. Nor do I think the newscaster was serious. They were basically both out of their elements. The comedian tried to sound serious in his comedic way and the newscaster tried to sound humourous in her newscaster way. Not really the same thing. She sounded more metaphorical in correcting a slip of the tongue when the comedian seemed to be speaking more literally - exercising his comedic license, of course. No one can take comedians seriously. Excepting Jon Stewart because he speaks sooth. Quote I want to be in the class that ensures the classless society remains classless.
Guest American Woman Posted June 9, 2011 Report Posted June 9, 2011 I don't think Titus was funny. Nor do I think the newscaster was serious. I don't think Titus was serious, either. Do you? At least he's in the business of trying to be funny. News analysts are not. Furthermore, people go to comedy shows such as Titus' knowing that they may hear some raunchy/subjective humor. People tuning into Fox News generally don't have the same expectations. They were basically both out of their elements. The comedian tried to sound serious in his comedic way and the newscaster tried to sound humourous in her newscaster way. The one who was being paid to produce comedy was not out of his element. His joke may have been in poor taste, but it was within his element. Anyone who goes to comedy shows knows that there is sometimes questionable political humor, and it's not just aimed at Palin by any means. Anyone who is seriously upset over this comedian's remark should be really really upset over the number of actual threats a POTUS receives - not from someone trying to be funny - and that's what this thread should be about rather than just one instance aimed at Palin as if she has somehow been singled out due to "derangement syndrome." Not really the same thing. She sounded more metaphorical in correcting a slip of the tongue when the comedian seemed to be speaking more literally - exercising his comedic license, of course. More metaphorical?? We'd knock them both off if we could is not literal to you? Where's the metaphor in that? While what Titus said is literal? I fail to see that. No one can take comedians seriously. Excepting Jon Stewart because he speaks sooth. Exactly. Comedians are not to be taken seriously, while news analysts are in the position to be taken seriously.
