Are you asking for a claim that there are paranoid people out there who see conspiracies in everything ?

I am asking for a reference. Topaz posted some drivel. Gosthacked posted that people thought the EU was just a conspiracy theory....attempting I assume to give credence to Topaz's drivel...that conspiracy theories can be true...

So I want to know, is gosthacked posting random nonsense or were there as he claims, people who thought the EU was nothing more than a conspiracy theory....prior to the negotiations leading up to the Treaty of Rome....in 1957.

I don't need proof that are paranoid people who see conspiracies in everything, Heck, Gosthacked thinks a rothcild 100 years dead was one of the creators of the Bilderberg conferences..

If you can find something (Gost can't) written prior top 1956, you would have a point.

I'm not trying to make a point. I found it interesting and relevant to the discussion. Thought others might, too.

Yes I am.

A troll is someone who posts nonsense, not looking for debate, but to start a fight....

Like asking why NATO isn't attacking Syria, when the poster doesn't want NATO to attack Syria...

Sound familiar?

I on the other hand merely point out stupidity in hopes that it will stop.

Now I am at the point where I ask, your comment about people thinking that the EU was a conspiracy theory, you just made that up?

On any given subject, there is a conspiracy theory.

In other words...so what?

Really? On any given subject? Interesting. And I presume you have proof of your claim?

People thought the EU was nothing but a conpsiracy theory before as well.

In order to bring an end to this tedious ping pong match, I will help Ghosthacked with this:

The Conspiracy Behind The European Union: What Every Christian Should Know

The actual title of my lecture is "The Conspiracy of the European Union: What every Christian should know". To deal comprehensively with such a vast topic in the space of one hour is, of course, quite impossible, so I am obliged to limit myself to the bare essentials. As with every conspiracy there are always several aspects which go to make up to the plot. They are always intertwined and interrelated, but not obvious in some immediate way. Nor do they do always run parallel to one another or even develop according to the original plan. Historically speaking, the European idea ostensibly began as a plan for economic co-operation, but it soon acquired a social dimension and very quickly thereafter developed into a full-blown scheme to unite the whole Continent politically. The underlying religious dimension has yet to be realised, as well as its full implications. What I want to try to show is that while these developments may reflect an apparent shifting of the original goalposts set for the new Europe, they were in fact carefully planned (or, rather, plotted) from the outset and pursued by stealth and with great determination. There is clear evidence, both in the successive European treaties themselves and in pronouncements by the would-be designers of Europe, that the European Union was intended from the outset as a gigantic confidence-trick which would eventually hurtle the nations of Europe into economic, social, political and religious union whether they liked it or not. The real nature of the final goal – a federal superstate – was deliberately concealed and distorted; it was to be released in small doses, to condition those who would never have accepted it, until it would be too late for the whole process to be reversed.

There you go.

Nope....

An article written in 1998 does not qualify as before

Those topics are but a tiny part of the endless list that "any given subject" would include, but if what you said is true, you just proved that what Gosthacked said is correct.

At any rate, I don't care to get into it. Again, as I said, I thought the article about the EU was interesting and relevant to the discussion, so I posted it on the chance that others might find it interesting too.

To prove it, I would need to find it. Conspiracy theories are more of a modern psychosis than in 1955...

While they may be more of a modern psychosis, they have been around for a long time.

Conspiracy theories regarding the New World Order have been around for decades. "The Open Conspiracy: Blue Prints for a World Revolution" was published by H. G. Wells in 1928. I don't think it's a stretch to believe that some thought the EU as it exists today, with a common currency (for most), was a conspiracy theory - of the NWO variety.

Oh I am sure there were at least a dozen different people who felt it was..

1) A communist plot

2) A Papist Plot

3) A French Plot

4) A CIA Plot

5) A Freemason Plot

6) An Illuminati Plot

7) A Jewish Plot

8) A fascist Plot

9) An Anarchist Plot

10) A Satanic Plot

11) A Royalist Plot

12) A Cardinal Richelieu Plot

...but to mention there may have been "people" who thought the EU was a conspiracy, to support Topaz's conspiracy is just plain idiot logic.

I don't know if it was mentioned to "support" her theory or as 'food for thought.' - At any rate, I found it interesting in that regard even though I don't believe in Topaz's theory.

Not so. I highly recommend "The Paranoid Style in American Politics" which lays it all out from the days of the revolution, to the Silver standard. Written in the 1960s, you could use it as a manual to understanding the brain of the modern day Troother.

Is the NAU (North American Union) just conspiracy theory as well?

Presently, all of those in power - in the position of being part of the creation of the NAU, - are saying it's not in the works, never was, and never will be; and there's nothing happening to suggest otherwise.

The thing about conspiracy theories, though, is that until they are realized, unless they are realized, that's all they are - especially when there's nothing in the works to suggest otherwise.
