So Gadaffi has called for several cease fires, which NATO/UN responded with more air strikes. It shows that the UN and NATO are not interested in cease fires or peace or humanitarian aid. This is a take over of Libya by the UN and NATO.

Bombs = humanitarian aid.

I suspect a huge influx of ground troops within two months. I also suspect Canada will be taking on a bigger role in this 'conflict'.

Canada needs not to be involved in this debacle.

Six CF-18s have flown 324 attack missions so far. A spare CF-18 is also deployed to the mission.

The announcement comes after the military initially refused to reveal how many bombs have been dropped during the mission, citing operational security concerns.

Blanchette wouldn't disclose the cost of the 227-kilogram bombs, or of Canada's mission so far, saying that decision was up to the government, not the Canadian Forces.

Earlier this month, the military published a request to buy 1,300 new $100,000 laser-guided bombs, reportedly all for use in the Libyan campaign.

I also thought this was interesting.

"Canadians deserve transparency on what's happening in Libya, the number of sorties, the number of bombs dropped, the targets," Harris said.

"The Canadian Department of Defence has a history of keeping things secret from the people of Canada," Harris said. "They have gotten away with it and they continue to get away with it, as long as they're allowed to do so."

What kind of weapons?

I wasn't talking about a current scenario, but a hypothetical one.

And it's irrelevant. look at Iraq's fearful arsenal, which could strike the UK in 45 minutes. :)

Do they have democratic elections?

Yep.

Did they invade another country like say Tibet, and annex it?

Nope.

Do you have a point, are did you genuinely not know the answers?

Enemy requests for cease-fires are not wise to pursue except under the most favourable conditions. Ask the 6th Army @ Stalingrad how their request went...lol.

Canada needs not to be involved in this debacle.

Agreed...they can probably finish off Daffy wiithout our 6 old planes.

I also thought this was interesting.

The general public shouldn't be privy to all military information...Want access? Join the army. Rise in rank.

Just to note that 1300 bombs at 100,000 each .... is 130,000,000. That's just for the bombs, and not operational costs of actually dropping them. Can't we spend that money at home and fix some shit here instead?

They're expensive due to our short-sightedness in regards to keeping the stockpile supplied properly. We had to...as BC2004 would put it...buy them off the shelf @ full price.

Do you support this intervention in Libya? If so, why?

Yup...I figured 'why isn't Saudi Arabia taking care of this mess?'

Saudi Arabia took care of the mess in Bahrain. Quelled the anti-government protestors there. But these same people are called 'rebels' in Libya in which we MUST support, regardless of some of the rebels being Al-Queda. Just another double standard.

We even support Islamic terrorists and separatists in the Balkans, as even Ret. General Lewis Mckenzie mentioned.

A report just out says that Canada has dropped 240 smart bombs on Libya to date at a $100,000.00 per bomb. Why? Oh yeah, Harper wants to be in with the big guys and feel important. When did Libya do anything to Canada? http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/Canada/20110526/canada-libya-mission-110526/

I believe the article is pointing out the $130 million CND, that will be spent accquiring new bombs. Libya, under Qadaffi, built that whole aquifier infrastructure bringing fresh water from the ground under the desert to the cities. Education right up to university is paid for by the state. All health care is paid by the state. This was all paid for, by Libya! No outside help needed. No need to talk to the IMF or World Bank, which means you are not held hostage by those entities. I guess that was not good enough for the UN/NATO. We go in stir shit up, so we can claim that Qadaffi is killing civilians (all the while we are killing civilians with these air strikes aka 'collateral damage') just so we can provide a solution.

I still think this was all manufactured by the western countries currently involved in the Libyan conflict. A war for resources and a military staging area for the UN/NATO.

I suggest you “dig deeper” (pun intended) into which company (and what country it’s from) built and maintains most of the infustructure associated with the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer…………..Find where said companies headquarters are and strap on that tin foil hat ;)

They threatened to nationalize Canadian companies after we condemned the Colonel’s celebration of the return of the Lockerbie bomber

Ah, Haliburton. Some of the shadiest people on this planet. Slave labour and human trafficking experts they are.

However Libya paid for the whole thing themselves, regardless of brining in outside contractors to build the project. Which was the point I was trying to make ther.

Nope, try a little closer to home.....

There’s a certain synergy between drilling for oil and drilling for water……the same can be said about its transport via pipelines……..Viscosity not included ;)

If you bought a car, then told the bank to "pound sand" when they expected payment, what is the normal result?

To feel important Chretien and Clinton bombed Serbia. Civilian targets like Embassy, passenger train full of people etc. "When did Serbia do anything to Canada?" Unlike Lybia, never supported terrorists blowing up civilian airliner with students aboard.

They also bombed Aspirin factory etc., in Somalia.

Yes, with possibly awful results. No expansive studies have been done, but it was the chief pharmaceutcal factory in an impoverished country, so bad effects can be assumed, I think.
