What do you call it when you take money from a group of people who have earned it and give it to those who haven't earned it?

Just kidding.

Now that I have your attention: hello, I'm new here. If someone could please quickly tell me how well represented Conservative supporters are in this forum, that would be great. If these is a breeding ground for NDP supporters/Bolsheviks, then I don't think you serve my kind here and I'll pack up and make my own way out of town.

The people on this forum all have different ideological beliefs and points of view. It would be a good representation of the Canadian population, except that the people on this forum care about how our country is run.

If youre a right winger, why would you want to go to a right wing forum? You wouldnt learn anything...

I'd like to voice my opinions in a place where they will be questioned, but not gainsaid. I'm asking this because I'm a regular a non-political forum, and when discussing Canadian politics, I am literally the only one that supports Conservatives.

Also, are there are fair amount of Albertans here, or would I be wasting my time discussing Alberta provincial politics?

The debate on this site is usually quite good. As in every other forum I have visited, there are a few from each extreme, but this has less insults and "is - isn't - is - isn't" type of exchanges than most.

And Alberta is represented fairly well, but I have never gone to the provincial politics forum here.

Just kidding.

It's called a democracy where people choose to pool their money to provide essential services for everyone. Don't want to pay taxes? Don't drive on our roads, use health care, education, etc., and no ei, welfare or CPP for you either.

Just kidding. ;-)

welcome.

Exactly! If I just wanted to hear reverberations of my own beliefs, I would be on the Rabble forums! There is already a huge problem with the internet allowing people to descend into political and religious silos where everyone more or less believes the same things and reinforce each others' beliefs and prejudices.

Yeah its kind of sad that the internet while having incredible potential as a conduit for the exchange of ideas, has in effect balkanized people around such an obviously fallacious dichotomy.

It seems to me that libertarians generally want to eliminate the government services that they don't use. Now, that it seems we are entering an age when natural disasters are getting worse, I expect that even the people living out in the boonies will realize that they can't do it all on their own any more than city dwellers can.

Sounds good you guys just need to pay the Easterns back the money it cost to build a railroad for you bums so you could even have a province and we will call it even steven. With interest that should be around 1 trillion dollars. Thanks.

Great! Another fricken Albertan. "But it's OUR oil!" Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. "Our votes don't count!" Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. "Let the eastern bastards freeze in the dark!" Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. "Why does all our money go to Kwebek????" Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

Just what the board needs. Another "anti-eastern Canada, anti-Kwebek, anti-equalization, anti-bilingualism redneck". You and Jack Weber ought to get along fine.

It has always seemed odd to me that Albertans act so mean spirited towards easterners. I truly don't get it. One said to me once that he assumed we talk that way about them too, and he was surprised to hear that I've never heard any of that.

Perhaps you can clarify what it's all about?

Speaking personally, it has destroyed any interest I ever had in vacationing in Alberta, though I've done so in every other province. I have no interest in facing that kind of prejudice, and it certainly is no joke.

But then you'd never see Jasper. I think putting up with Albertans is worth it just to be in Jasper.

Actually, you shoved a railroad down our necks so that you could plunder our wealth. You owe us, big time.

Oh please  . Alberta was created as part of Canada. It was never independent. No one shoved anything down your throat.
