Voter intelligence is being insulted again

Recommended Posts

Yes, but I'm only questioning your theory, which you've extrapolated wholesale from your personal experience as a naive woman...as women, I take it, tend generally to be. Until they're older, and guided by wiser male figures.

Trudeaumania was the nickname given in early 1968 to the excitement generated by Pierre Trudeau's entry into the leadership race of the Liberal Party of Canada. Trudeaumania continued during the subsequent federal election campaign and during Trudeau's early years as Prime Minister of Canada.

Many young people in Canada at this time, especially young women, were influenced by the 1970s counterculture and identified with Trudeau, an energetic nonconformist who was relatively young. They were dazzled by his charm and good looks, and a large fan base was established throughout the country.

My personal experience is now documented as historical fact. I bring it up strictly as a comparison to what I see happening now with Layton.

As a retired senior I stand to gain more monetarily from a Layton government. I am a NDP targeted group for benefits. Therefore I should not be complaining over such an eventuality. I do worry though, that my children and grandchildren would end up paying the bills.

Where were you when the conservatives gave corporations billions in tax cuts further burdening the youth?

Where were you when the conservatives wanted to further their right wing imprisenment of Canadians costing tax payers billions?

Where were you when the conservatives started to increase military spending military spending by billions?

None of the above three examples have bein proven to benefit Canadians!

The youth doesn't need your kind of thinking.

You gave the youth the gift of national debt and then say "I don't want to pass the debt on to the youth"

Ya well on your tax return in Ontario, around the end of the return there is a question there asking you for a donation to reduce the provincial debt, did you actually put an amount in that line?

Put your money where your mouth is!

Look at the NDP platform. Layton plans to give the gift of national debt to my great-grandchildren.

You don't even have to look that far ahead. Look at the Conservative's fiscal policy. That's the gift of national debt and it's already here.

those $30 billion jets, your kids and your grandkids and their kids will be paying for ...your healthcare your kids and grandkids and my grandkids (and me) will pay for that...I need a tax break, as small business owner who spends his money in canada at other small canadian businesses I want the small business tax break (ultimately to be zero)the NDP is offering, why the hell should some international corporate giant get a tax break that it will take out of country and deposit in some CEO pocket or that of foreign investors...if I'm paying for social benefits I want the business tax break for myself not the corporations...

That's a pathetic defense for irresponsible spending.

I'm confused, the Cons have shown time after time that they will post record deficits. Harper has done it before, he put us into debt before the recession even hit, and he will continue to put us into debt until he is out of office. Any claim that the Conservatives are anything other than socially conservative is moronic.

ya there no way to defend a billion dollars for the G20...irresponsible spending is not something that the NDP can be held accountable for, it's all conservative...

You're dwelling in the past. I fear for the future if Spending Jack gets any power.

This is what we've got from the people who stand to form the Government following the election. Unless they plan to change, and from what Harper said, they won't, this will be our future as well.

I have supported the Conservatives in just about all the economic policies they brought forward. I wasn't too pleased with over the top stimulus spending, brought about to assuage the opposition that was clamoring for more, more, more spending.

Independent thought is still allowed in Canada, even for youth. Let them think what they want.

Ha! Giving more money to McGuinty so he can continue to bankrupt the province with his boondoggles and contempt for taxpayers. Dream on.

Put your money where your mouth is!

I do by way of a yearly donation to the Conservative Party of Canada.

Wow Capricorn you managed to justify just about every thing.

I guess you can sleep at night knowing that you have voted conservative and liberal, passing down debt to your decendants.

Fortunetly most of Canada is not brainwashed and will take their future into their own hands!

Good. That's what I tried to do.

I've had plenty of company.

Good or bad, voters will select the government they want. Nothing has changed.

I support the Canadian military. I want our brave soldiers who put their lives on the line for our freedom to have the best equipment, and that includes fighter jets.

AI want the best equipemtn for our soldiers. What I don't want is money wasted paying more for the best equipment than what it's worth. The Conservatives are reckless in that regard, and will not come straight.

 the conservatives are busy taking credit for a stimulus package that created employment and you want to condemn it, there is no logic in conservative logic...the opposition forced the conservatives into the stimulus package...the problem wasn't the package it was the conservatives cutting the GST, what brilliant financial genius in the conservative regime thought they could run a country without revenue to pay the bills...

there's no objective logic in your beliefs, harper could be puppy eating serial killer and would still vote for him only because he's a conservative...

Our military has suffered long enough with the shitty Sea King. Quality costs money.

I'm onside with having good equipment but we need to have the proper equipment for the job, F35's to fly over arctic ice flows and rock for a few seconds is not sovereignty protection, boots on the ground, ships in the water, civilian arctic development is sovereignty...

Its good to see that you can admit it when you are wrong.

Must get real depressing always having to admit you are wrong,I am sure you will come up with a witty response, but again you will leave yourself open to be easily critizised

We were talking about the stereotypical uneducated rural/oilpatch voter. In Alberta they vote overwhelmingly provincially PC and federally Conservative. They will, for the most part, never vote for anything to the left of the Conservatives, regardless of what the party does.

Another example of urban people try to tell rural folks how it is and how they should behave and what they should believe in. So all rural people are uneducated and stupid in your terms. That is absolutely absurd. So by your reasoning the only thing keeping all the conservatives in the world from becoming socialists is a good education.

You and people like you are out of touch with reality and need to grow up if that is your attitude. Rural folks grow the food you eat and one piece of farm machinery is worth more then some peoples homes in Canada.

Just because a person chooses to live in a rural setting doesn't mean they're uneducated.

Just because a person wants less government intrusion into their lives, this doesn't mean they're uneducated either.

As opposed to... a dictatorship.

And what do you say about people who wants a disctorship, which would intrude into people's life?
