"The fact that the NDP may be the leading opposition party — that, I think, actually clarifies the choice for Canadians," Harper said.

The NDP in particular, he said, has "economic policies that are designed for opposition, rather (than) for actually governing."source

PM Harper has once again proven his economic prowess by reassuring Canadians that Jack Layton will not be deciding Canadas economic future in this most trying time.

Can you guys imagine Jack Layton economic policy? He would scrap the Economic Action Plan immediately and then raise taxes for business and for all except the lowest income. If you all thought the economic stimulus spending was high wait until you get the bill for Jack Laytons spend-a-thon. His quest to be everything to everyone will cost Canadians for a generation at least.

Let's stop Jack Layton from ruining Canada. Together we can win!

Let me start by saying Thanks Mr Canada for sticking your neck out and risking your credibility on someone who gives a ratts ass about you.

Harper has proven through this election campaign that he is a few bricks shy of a load. How you have interpreted bias dialog for intelligence is beyond me.

There is actually a direct link now between the NDP poll numbers and whenever Harper has something to say negative. So saying he is brilliant when he does this is odd.

It's just so strange that Harper is now battling the NDP for first place, and the Bloc and Liberals decimated.

Everyone is boggled by this....especially the NDP! Who would've thought the protests - that's what analysts are calling it - against Cons, Libs and Blocs will all benefit Jack?

Hopefully those protesting had gotten their anger out of their system and get back to the reality of the consequences should we actually get an NDP-led government.

I don't really find this to be all that strange. It is only showing this in the polls. In the mid to late 80s we had similar polls showing the NDP and Cons far ahead and the Libs far behind. It looked like we would have a whole new political picture come election day. But on election day the Libs got some of their votes. Not all of the NDP support showed on the ballot and the Cons won a Majority.

Harper probably doesn't want any other party to take the PMO because Canadians will know the full truth about our deficit and other things that he Tories have been doing. There's no danger, as Harper thinks, if there NDP gets a minority and then Harper will have to work with the NDP, or will he? IF the Libs wouldn't work with the Tories, would Harper go to the Bloc?? Would Harper go to GG to form a government, this power freak would do anything to get back into the PMO. Of course, if Harper got second place , he'd take his time and plan to take down the NDP's.

There are two differences this time.

First, although I still think the NDP support is soft, I don't see a massive turning back of Liberals to the fold. The party, and the leader, are just unattractive.

Second, a lot of Quebecers are tired of the Bloc, and they do not see either the Liberals or the Conservatives at the place to go back to.

To be correct, Harper does not predict Layton will be the Official Opposition.

Harper just makes an assumption and spins it into his main tune: "Vote Conservatives!"

This is a pre-election show. Business as usual.

Don't forget. To MrC, Harper is our father and is near perfection... except for one thing.. he is not a dictator like Franco.
