Hey buddy there was nine freakin sentences in my last quote and you focus on the last trivial one.

Yes very good,your good buddy!

Try debateing some real issues here man.

What you are doing is called trolling.Plain and simple.

This is what you are reduced to and you have only yourself to blame

So what you are saying is if I understand you: "ignore my numerous errors, my posts are trivial anyway and seemimg like I know what I am flapping about is not important..."

Is that correct?

RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS

If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us

Then why bother replying back?

I started this thread in the first place anyways!

If you can do better than do it!

Good luck

Ya well what happened there I had a longer title but it somehow got cut off or something. And I felt that some meaning would be lost if changed it around.

Sorry if it has caused some confusion.

Still learning the ropes around here.

My appologies

Yes, and the last one summed up your flawed position nicely.

I stand corrected on the production numbers, but don't expect them to build any more Raptors once the next couple are delivered because that is it. The most expensive piece of junk ever bought by the USAF. There is a damned good reason they stopped production, it sure wasn't because they were making too much money on the damned things. That said, I am sure there is something better hiding in the wings somewhere.

LockMart made plenty of money on the "damned things"...they were cost plus contracts. The most expensive "piece of junk" purchased by the USAF was probably the XB-70 Valkyrie at $750 million each for two prototypes (and that's 1962 dollars).

The F35 is the next evolution of the fighter aircraft. It covers all the American requirements for all branches of service. It is their platform of choice. The production run as planned will reduce the cost per plane for later deliveries. The funny thing is that I agree with the guy that said we should develop something on our own and retain the design costs within the nation.

Please do...then maybe Canada will have a better appreciation for what it takes to design, develop, and produce such aircraft. This might cut down on a lot of the bitching about cost.

Quite possible, yes. I said more could be built if there was a pressing need, which in itself is very unlikely, as the US is not going to fight an air force competitive with its own in the near future. But if the US suddenly started fighting a prolonged conventional war with some group of major powers that posed a real challenge to its air force, you can bet more F-22s would be built, and fast.

There is no 6th gen fighter ready for production. In fact, 6th gen fighters are only in the earliest stages of development as of right now, with technical requirements and specifications still being debated and finalized. There are strong proponents of making these aircraft optionally autonomous, while others think that autonomy should be reserved for 7th gen, and then be implemented wholesale rather than optionally. There is also discussion of the use of directed energy weapons on 6th gen fighters. And there is even talk of the use of hypersonic flight technology. Realistically, probably none of these will get implemented. In any case, there's nothing "in the wings" right now.

That's not really true at all. The US has a wide range of aircraft that fill different roles. The F-35 is not an air superiority fighter. Those missions will continue to be flown by F-15s and F-22s.

Yes, one of many. Unlike Canada, the US does not have to limit itself to just one type of combat airplane for its air force.

I agree, that would certainly be a major long term benefit to Canada, if Canadians were willing to invest the needed time and money. Realistically, since Canada has almost none of the needed infrastructure and very little of the necessary expertise, university programs, laboratories, etc, it would be an immense undertaking. Basically building a military aerospace industry from the ground up. To get to the point where we could build fighter aircraft comparable to what the US is producing, I'd say we'd burn through about a trillion dollars and about 20 years or so before anything was rolling off production lines.

We dont need aircraft comparable to what the US is producing. The vast majority of what our airforce does is fly routine patrols, and stand ready to shoot down rogue civilian airliners. Sending an F35 on these missions would be like driving a Ferrari F40 to the store to get bread. We will probably just make these missions cost way more.

The question would be can we make an adequate plane for all our patrol missions at an affordable price. I have no idea what the answer is... and like you say it would take some time to tool up.

I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger

You just put us in the second class of the world order. Congratulations, silly fellow. I might have actuallly expressed myselfe fully but this venue seems to be pretty gentrified.

The government can't give anything to anyone without having first taken it from someone else.
