Federal Election Polls

Yeah, from reading his comments, makes me wonder where he stands.

I guess he claims to be Conservative, but with reading some of his posts, I tend to think he's not a memeber of the party or he never recieved his copy of the "Hidden agenda memo" ;)

he's somewhere to the right of the reformers in the conservative ranks...

you're quite likely the only american who actually cares, a little strange but ok... :)

I know of one other on this board! :D

I love Canada, and I'd love to live there someday for a little while. I fully believe the Parliamentary system is a vastly superior system compared to the American Presidential system, especially in this day of rapid information access and movement.

Yeah because he doesn't have to pay for the mess that the NDP would cause. It's my household that would get taxed like no tommorow, my wife loser her job, myself not getting contracts, and then losing our home and lifestyle all because of Jack's fantasies and his pot smoking MP's:

I agree with but our system could still be improved IMO...

Somewhere between Franco and Mussolini, I think.

Study your history. Those are the Mussolini, Hitlar, all of them were actually part of the radical left.

I am actually a Ron Paul Libertarian that supports direct democracy like the state of California. I also believe in key voting reforms (ie those who do not pay, should not have a say on how the money is spent).

More ridiculous Conservative scare-mongering tactics which have zero basis in fact. Who do you think created Canada's massive deficits and debt? It's too late anyways now as most voters have decided by now and have switch to hockey and the royal wedding. Too bad.

Thanks! Most of my political positions fit well with Canadian politics, but seem crazy in an American system, unfortunately.

Oh no question about that last part though. A different voting system than FPTP, an elected Senate similar to Australia's, and at some point after Elizabeth II passes, renaming the GG position and either making it the official head of state position or making it more of a "Co-Head of State" position depending on how the British monarchy works in coming years...especially if the UK abolishes it.

Ideally, in America, I'd like a more ceremonial head of state position with the President...with slightly more powers than a Canadian GG. I'd love a multiparty Parliament with a Premier as head of government, and an elected Senate that serves as a check on the House except on financial matters, etc., and that approves Supreme Court Justices. Votes of non confidence, shorter election campaigns, and longer terms for sitting Congresses etc. would be a much-welcomed development. That's just a general overview though, my beliefs go a lot deeper! :)

I'd guess the last time you sat in on a history class was in high school... all those socialist that died in the concentration camps would've been surprised to learn hitler was one of them :lol: ...

Yet another example of why conservative education beliefs should never be taken seriously.

I'm ok with keeping a GG as a last "impartial" arbitrator...I'd turf the senate, fat lazy partizan political pigs at the trough...turf the queen as well...

Maybe her husband should spend less time posting fascist crap on the Internet and more time earning money.

Ron Paul is a lunatic as well. You're not doing yourself any favors here.

As it is, I have a very hard time calling Hitler and Mussolini left-wingers. That they spouted some socialist jargon is pretty meaningless when you look at the states they created.

The other night on the Daily Show, Ron Paul said that the Federal Reserve is purposely devaluing the US Dollar so they can repay the United States' debt to China, etc. with worthless dollars.

Sigh.

Ron Paul so well demonstrates the concept of the broken clock being right twice a day. He'll say something bright and insightful, and then follow it up with something completely absurd. His whole "move back to the gold standard" line which is the font of all this claptrap can be best described as "economics by morons for lunatics."

This is not to mention he wants to abolish every single service and tax provided by the federal government except for basic protection.

I suppose if you had a complete breakdown of the US economy and social system followed by a break-up of the country you could get some of the political changes you hope for...The Republic of North East America...

If anyone like Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Ron Paul, Donald Trump, etc. etc. ever became President, I'll move to Canada. I swear. Then I'll watch the destruction.

why do we need the sovereign? the GG in actuality acts on his/her own anyway the tie to the queen is only symbolic and silly...cut the symbolic link and proceed as before...

The Queen wasn't so symbolic in 1990 when Mulroney went to add Senate seats.

My larger point is that if you end the monarchy in Canada, the Governor General, however he or she is selected, effectively becomes a president.
